Wipe Out!!!!
ITIWBS Posted Feb 15, 2008
Sorry to be out of the loop so long. Just as I had my brand new pc up to where I thought I could do some useful work with it again, I found the software had fragmented so severely that I had to spend several days running slo...oow defragmentation routines, amusing myself as I watched the shifting display with resemblance of it to landscapes, surf on the shoreline of a sandy beach(unused space, <white> against a Pacific sunset, with a varve of sea weed washed up on the sand(page files, <orange>
; starry sky(pixels of free space randomly distributed over the frequently modified files section,
) over an arctic snowscape beneath an aurora borealis(free space maintained for system use<magenta>
.
With luck, though, I'll get some serious writing done over the upcoming four day weekend.
By the way, did you intend two posting for Wipe Out!!!!, or was that accidental?

There you are calling me 'So' Who is in charge then?
I know you name isn't 'Then' nor is it 'Now' nor is 'Who' in charge - it must be 'Nobody'.
Are you lost?
Yes, you are not 'Lost'.
Sit down, have some

Well, if it's any consolation, i've now had 3 separate type nice young men in to look at my beast, most of them were almost in tears "You do realise that running Windows 98 on a computer you found by the bins is pretty much technically impossible?"
I have been defragmenting for 3 weeks now!
But it jus' keeps chuggin' along. Very, very slowly. With a nice green screen, unless it's in Blue Screen of Death mode...if it can do Blue then, why can't it do Blue Goo at other times? Never mind, we are zen.
Ish....

ARGH! Deja-vu
A Quiz.
1 word - reinstall
2 words - second time
3 words - Prof does it again
4 words - tain't my fault
5 words - found conflict between two vista's ????
6 words - ain't got no answers, except Doh!
7 words - all none printable
8 words - computer was 14 days old - Friday 15 - 08
9 words - cool or what! it's humour - it's fun - it's ME
The Answer = A banana this long.
Plus the company who I got the PC from, had put a "back up" virtual reality hard drive on, so my vista was 80 gig, with a 80 gig back up - but somehow they conflicted. After wiping the hard drive with "killdisk" and reinstalled vista, it now shows 149 gig area(as it shoud be).
No wonder my de-frag program could not get below 20% and my anti virus reported that another anti virus was running.
Needless to say - what the eck! thinks I'll apply for a job at N.A.S.A. next

This reminds me strongly of a virus that hit back in 2005 in the Central Coast area (middle California) that split the software in two and prevented updates from installing focus seems to be 'documents' and 'desktop'.
