Hmm, so her husband works in a hospital, where there are many drugs which could induce these symptoms...Yeah I'm still going with the "The husband did it" theory

I don't think you people are anywhere near distrustful and paranoid enough. When lil turns up at their home to find G satanding with bloody knife in hand I'll stand vindicated in my belief that he's after the life insurence. Her only hope is to get in their first..I can help with any hints and tips she may want on that score

<<< but she is to see a specialist to check for a possible infection to the lining of the heart or lung.
Anyhooo, she has been sent home to await said appointment>>>
WHAT??? Is it just me??? Why isn't everybody going wild over her having to *wait* for an appointment if there is even a faint possibility of infection in that area? Is this the dear old NH bloody S at its best?
Jeez!!!! Move to France now! You would be whizzed straight into hospital & no way would they let you leave until ALL tests are done & a diagnosis given & treatment started if necessary.
It sounds to me most likely stress induced palpitations, which is what i get, but i have had every test under the sun to rule out any possibility of an underlying problem. I'm on beta blockers, have been for many years & most of the time it controls it completely, except when i am having a full blown panic attack.
Anyway, VV, try & take it easy, very difficult i know. palpitations are a horrible feeling. I was told that paradoxically it's actually usually proof that your heart is strong, simply over reacting to stress.
Hope you don't have to wait too long for that appointment. If it's not through by the end of the week, let me know & i will start screaming in high places!

Hi Guys
I had my first palpitation at the age of 15 and since then they've been getting more and more frequent.
I may go a couple of months now without any, but when they arrive, they're every minute or so, or 3 or 4 a minute (if not more).
The first ECG they did didn't capture them, so they did a longer one and in 7 seconds, they caught 3 in a row.
The pain in the chest appears to be some kind of "infection" either around the lining of the heart or lungs. They're not sure which. More than likely from a virus that has attacked there. They've put me on diclofenac which is a fairly strong anti-inflammatory. Even though I've been on these for my back, they think this will do the trick.
I have to wait for an appointment to see a cardiologist and have my heart monitored for a 24 hour period. This will be done through outpatients so I'll be waiting a fair bit for that to be done.
The only saving grace is the fact that if I do get concerned about the pain again (yes, the pain is still there atm), then I can present myself back to A&E and hopefully they will monitor the heart straight away.
I can't really say what I have with the palpitations is stress because I've had them for 15 years or so. They've steadily gotten stronger and more frequent so gawd knows what they will be like in another 15 years!!!
The outcome is most likely to be put on anti-arrhythmics . The worst case scenario is that it's the plumbing of the heart thats gone squiffy. In which case I'll need some form of surgery to correct it. The middle ground is that the problem is electrical which could mean that I have the part of the "Circuitry" short fused to stop the palpitations.
In the meantime, I'm not going to push myself. If I feel at all over pressured, then I'll just go home. My life and health is much more important than any stinking job
In the meantime, I'm cutting down on smoking with a view to giving up, hopefully before christmas. I'm cutting down on caffiene and red wine (not that I drink much red wine, or even alcohol come to think of it!). This way if they say it's to do with my lifestyle, I can point out the changes I have made already to show them that the problem either was or wasn't part of the problem.
Anyways. Chances are, I won't be around properly for a few days, so I shall love you and leave you for now.
