We really should have a on h2g2. I'll just lay this here for now.
Never imagined some people could find poppies offensive. I don't like war, I think it should be avoided. But I don't think we should forget the people who laid down their lives for their country, whether the politicians sent them into that situation for 'good' reasons or not.
Say not in grief 'they are no more', but live in thankfulness that they were.

Being unemployed again after doing a job you really enjoyed (short-term contract) really sucks. I feel worse about it than I did in my much longer previous run of unemployment. Maybe it's because I miss the job (yes). Maybe it's because I miss my work colleagues (they are mostly a good bunch). Maybe it's because I miss being able to afford to pay for things (oh yes). Maybe it's because I know the unemployment figures are ridulously high and I'll be damn lucky to get any other job before next spring (resoundingly yes).
However, I've been invited to meet up with someone today who had me in mind for a job (and training for a completely separate job) with her at about this time last year, but due to family crises I was not available. I'm trying to stay calm and just enjoy a friendly chat over a cuppa, but I can't deny I have hopes for a positive outcome.

I have Olecranon bursitis, according to the doctor. Been troubling me for about a month so I finally gave in and paid a visit. Start of the problem seems to coincide with all the data entry I was doing in the last couple of weeks of my paid employment. Nothing to be done, just try not to aggrevate it. This is a good reason to buy a new laptop and avoid using a desk, isn't it?
Funnily enough, it wasn't bothering me so much when I saw but now I've come home (after he twisted my arm this way and that) it is aching and even hurting down my arm, which it hadn't done before. Nothing like a trip to the docs to make you all better. He was ridiculously young and cute though. Glad I was only seeing him about my elbow!

Coming back to (post-BBC) h2g2 is like rediscovering yourself. And long-lost friends. And like reading your own biography. I've never been any good at keeping journals, despite best intentions. Don't imagine I'm going to start now. But h2g2 could be as close as I ever get.
Inconsequential things occur, alarms are triggered, memories stir
Ah, song lyrics.

I suppose logging back into the Guide for the first time in six years or so requires a journal entry. This is it.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
