Gainful employment
Posted Aug 31, 1999
Work is a wonderful thing. It brings me money, and prevents me from staying on h2g2 as long as I'd like (and longer than the man inside the phone likes). Soon, it's going to take me away, and I shall have the pleasure of "my other manager's" company. Maybe just a few more minutes...

Addiction
Posted Aug 31, 1999
I'm beginning to worry that I'm going to log in one day and never leave. Some people seem to be here whenever I am, or are they following me? (Probably just paranoia). Aside from the addiction, by the time I've checked/answered all my forum entries, it's time to start all over again.
In Red Dwarf 'Better Than Life' there's a taxman with thumb screws, and I'm getting recurring nightmares about it, only he's evolved into the man from the telephone company. (Further paranoia) Why did a certain electrical chain store invent the idea of free ISPs, and why haven't they also invented free phone calls yet? (I bet they've got shares in telecom).

At last, a whole heap of no replies. I can log off at last with a clear conscience (and a few pennies left in my pocket).

Ermmm...

In general the whole point of writing a journal is to be able to express your deepest, darkest most secret sentiments to an inanimate object, so that you can worry perpetually that it does not 'fall into the wrong hands' and thoroughly embarass you. Somehow writing a journal on H2G2 seems both less traumatic and more fun, despite knowing that your personal extrapolations will be read by countless strangers (well, at least one!)

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
