Colin Hotham
I was born two years before the outbreak of WW2 in Deal on the coast of Kent. As a small boy I saw (and heard!) plenty of things to do with the war.
My father served in the Royal Marine Band Service which meant we moved a number of times between 1939 & 1945.
My 25 years service with the Royal Air Force gave me an interest in WW2 and now that I have the time, I can research this subject.
I decided initially to concentrate on the Sicily campaign but have now widened my interest to the Italian mainland as well.
Over the past two years I have made a number of contacts, both in this country, Canada and the USA, people who served in the Allied armed forces during these campaigns and their relatives.I visited Sicily during May 2003 and made a point of paying my respects at each of the three Commonwealth War Cemeterys at Catania, Siracusa and Agira, as well as going to a number of battle sites.
I visited Sicily again in May 2004 to continue my research, and made another visit this May 2005.
Colin Hotham.
