Hey Ivan
Heleloo - Red Dragon Incarnate Posted Oct 4, 2004
I think he is gone now, he looked normal enough, was just checking things out
I have seen some terrible stuff at C*nterl*nk I felt very sorry for the staff...they are only following the ruls after all, not their fault if things go wrong
Hey Ivan
Ivan the Terribly Average Posted Oct 4, 2004
Most of the rules are terrible, too. The staff have no say in how things are run, and most of them can see the injustice of the system. However, the staff aren't allowed to have opinions on these matters; it's all part of being good drone-like public servants. As you can imagine, stress levels are pretty high.
It's all just another reason for wanting a change of career.

that sounds terrible, poor people, how does anyone stand it?
becoming a librarian sounds better an better

I coped with being on counter by thinking that if I wasn't there to help the people who needed help, they'd run the risk of seeing someone who wouldn't try to get around the rules as much as possible. It is possible to subvert from the inside, to a certain extent, as long as all decisions can be backed up with references to legislation, and complete paperwork.
What other people do I can't be sure, but a lot of my colleagues drink. A lot. Others place their faith in Prozac.

working from within, that is the way to go, so many rules and regs, it would easy to baffle with bullsh*t just thinking in circles I suppose
I wondered how they coped, seems most don't, but is stuck, need money to do sommat different, but need the job to get the money
I need to go to
had a few an a few to many ==~, but I will probably still be babbling for a while, afterall tonight is friday for me
Hey Ivan
Ivan the Terribly Average Posted Oct 5, 2004
I must have gone into a coma roughly at the same moment as you made that last post.
I keep doing my grotty job because I need the money to do this course (or some other course) and there's no other easy way to get the money. Well, there is, over in the dodgy part of town, but I'm a bit too old for that and I do have the vague tatters of moral standards.
Never mind, today wasn't too bad - the mainframe crashed, so it was the perfect excuse to do very little.
Hey Ivan
Heleloo - Red Dragon Incarnate Posted Oct 5, 2004
yeah I toddled of to bed not long after that post
I did very little today, visited the library, finally, didn't get to go last week, so I needed a fix
wandered around town
napped
oh, I did do the dishes
but forgot to vote as I am working next saturday I have to pre vote
got to love them mainframes
Hey Ivan
Ivan the Terribly Average Posted Oct 5, 2004
Ah, voting. Got home tonight to find 5 leaflets about the federal election, and seven about the territory election (16 October) clogging the letterbox. I'm sick of it... Two weekends in a row...
I still haven't cleaned the kitchen. I really can't be bothered tonight. Tomorrow, maybe.
Hey Ivan
Heleloo - Red Dragon Incarnate Posted Oct 5, 2004
I don't even want to think about voting, I really don't understand how the senate vote thingy works, so I will probably just close my eyes an number all the boxes at random
if you can't see the mess then does it exsist?
Hey Ivan
Ivan the Terribly Average Posted Oct 5, 2004
The mess exists, all right. I can't move in the kitchen without walking into stuff. That'll teach me to clear out cupboards when I can't be bothered to put things away again...
As for the senate - I start with the most repellant candidate and work backwards. This was great fun when I lived in Adelaide - I got to write '57' against Vanstone on a regular basis. Most therapeutic.
Hey Ivan
Heleloo - Red Dragon Incarnate Posted Oct 5, 2004
good strategy, might use it
your kitchen sounds like our spare room...althogh it was cleanedup for the guests 2 weeks ago, but already the mess is starting to build again
I just keep the door shut
Hey Ivan
Ivan the Terribly Average Posted Oct 5, 2004
I could keep the kitchen door closed - but then I wouldn't be able to get to the lav. That could be a (worse) problem.
My mother has two rooms that she never goes into, because she can't open the doors for all the stuff she's piled in there. Who knows what it all is... One of these days she'll clear it all out, and I'm dreading to think what she'll find.

Hey Ivan
Ivan the Terribly Average Posted Oct 5, 2004
Survivor?
Don't worry, I won't tell anyone. Your secret is safe with me...
I'm about to watch the rest of 'Animal Crackers'. See you later...
Hey Ivan
Ivan the Terribly Average Posted Oct 6, 2004
I can't say I've ever seen an episode, so I really shouldn't condemn the show. I just prefer my telly to be non-real, if you follow me.
I still haven't finished watching Animal Crackers. I couldn't stay awake last night. As soon as the weather's finished I'll watch the rest. (It's either that or politics on telly tonight, and I can't face any more politics...)
Hey Ivan
Heleloo - Red Dragon Incarnate Posted Oct 6, 2004
I voted to day, what a depressing thing, did your trick though went from 54 backwards under the line then just randomly did the rest, not a good thing but probably what everyone else does anyway
Hey Ivan
Ivan the Terribly Average Posted Oct 6, 2004
It's always easy to find a few dozen vile creatures to put last, and a few less vile creatures to put at numbers 1-10; it's the leftovers that I get all random with. They're usually nonentities anyway.
Hey Ivan
Heleloo - Red Dragon Incarnate Posted Oct 6, 2004
didn't recognise any of the names except pauline hanson that says alot or very little I think, I put the HEMP party first just for a laugh
Hey Ivan
Ivan the Terribly Average Posted Oct 6, 2004
I have no idea about most of the ACT senate candidates - I'll be putting certain distasteful parties last, a particular one first, and the rest... oh well, it'll all be over in a few days.
Key: Complain about this post
