For what it's worth, I can relate to the midlife-crisis sort of feeling. Even though I have the love of my life around most of the time (and a nice cuddly cat too), I do feel like a lot of the "better things" in life have passed me by, that I haven't lived up to my potential, and that I could have and should have done better. Sometimes it feels like we run to stand still, you know?

I don't suffer from depression or anxiety like some people have to do, so when I'm feeling like a bit of a failure about all I haven't accomplished, I become even more annoyed that I don't just snap out of it and work harder at it.

I don't particularly have any goals or ambitions. Would it help if I did, maybe? It might, I suppose - but I can't just go out and get a six-pack of ambitions at the shop... Any goal I come up with feels like something I've invented purely for the sake of having a goal.

Should I just wait and see what crops up?

I decided to pre-empt my midlife crisis and plan it smiley - laugh

The black beast is the main result of this forward planning smiley - biggrin but it has also enabled me to warn nearest and dearest that there is a mlc-moment coming up, abd they usually have time to duck before the Bean goes off the rails temporarily. Poor things smiley - laugh

Hi, Ivan,

It must be something in the air - Spring here I think, but it's heading for autumn/fall where you are isn't it? I get down at this time of year always but I am not sure why. What I do know is that it will pass, eventually.

I hope you are feeling better soon, it is horrible when you feel like that. Take care.

It's late summer here. My moodiness doesn't seem related to the time of year; I like winter, and in fact look forward to it. Spring and autumn are quite good too. smiley - zen This summer has been a good one; not too hot for a change.

Helly, I'll be in touch sooner or later - not this weekend or next, though. Housew*rk this weekend; Sydney the next.

Fb, planning an MLC seems like a good idea. I'll ponder that for a while... Let's see what falls out of my brain. Lint, probably, and a bit of kapok, but something else will follow in time.

In the meantime, I'll be focussing a little more on w*rk. I'm doing stuff that might save lives - no, really - and that gives me some sort of incentive to continue. The people who are saved can then go on to ponder the point of life, and they might find some sort of answer - who knows?

I think the main point of my life is to find laughter in as many places as I can. When I get low these days, I go and make myself laugh in the mirror - it does me an extraordinary amount of good smiley - biggrin
