Excuse me?
Montana Redhead (now with letters) Started conversation Feb 15, 2004
Wraith, I've never had a quarrel with you, nor did I want one. Frankly, I didn't particularly care who did what to whom, as it seemed that questioning someone's credibility based on the use of crude language (and again, I will stress that flipper's choice of words was neither acceptable nor required). You yourself said you had messed with his email, so why does it bother you that I reminded you of that? I can't remember the exact post, but if you would like me to, I can find it. Is it because I used the word 'hijacked'?
I suppose I could just leave this and run, but that's not my style. You don't have to respond to it, and I'm not terribly convinced that you will, but if you would like to, I would welcome the chance to understand the misunderstanding and move past it. You have lots of good things to say, wraith.
Excuse me?

"You yourself said you had messed with his email" Where did I say that?
Excuse me?
Montana Redhead (now with letters) Posted Feb 16, 2004
On the thread we keep refering to. Would you like the post number? It may take me a few days...I'm a little busy grading my students' midterms and writing an article, don't you know.
Excuse me?
Researcher 538645 Posted Feb 16, 2004
If you were to provide the example then you'd be the first person who has tarred me to do so. Where I work students are just starting the year.
Excuse me?
Researcher 538645 Posted Feb 16, 2004
That really is weak. Della is not technically savy and her wording is a bit skewed so you're idea of the most important sentence is just plain, well er. Let's just say I would have expected better from you and that's the source of my dissapointment.
None of that post shows, to use your words, "You yourself said you had messed with his email"
All you have me saying is that I ran an email validator which, by the way, only looks to see that an address exists.
Then you hav me saying that email phreaking is not illegal. A simple statement of fact and rather well restrained of myself considering what he had just said to me with the support and indirect support of people I thought I trusted.
Maybe it's the automatic weight lent to accusations by an american that this site seems to grant.
Excuse me?
Montana Redhead (now with letters) Posted Feb 17, 2004
Oh for crying out loud, wraith. You sent an email to his inbox from his email address. I call that hijacking, you call it validating. Semantics will get you nowhere with me. If you didn't do this, then perhaps you'd best straighten your mum out on that one. If you did, do you think I really care?
I just get tired of you questioning everyone's credibility by way of making your point. You seem to think that by doing so, you somehow gain an edge in the argument. What it comes across as is an unwillingness to deal with the questions at hand, and not having good argumentative form. Was sgtflipper calling you names okay? Of course not. I've said that many times. But your little games aren't any better. You should have yikes'd the posts and moved on. His life choices aren't yours, and that, my young paduan, is what makes the world an exciting place to be.
Excuse me?
Researcher 538645 Posted Feb 17, 2004
And thus you join the ranks of people ending in a fustrated rant on generalisations... Sigh
"Was sgtflipper calling you names okay? Of course not." - Yes
"But your little games aren't any better." - games?
"You should have yikes'd the posts and moved on." - Tried that once and it was restord *within the hour*.
I give up with you. With some people I'm just not good a judge of character. Read back over the period of his threats to me and then your following posts and then look up the meaning of tacit approval.
Excuse me?
Montana Redhead (now with letters) Posted Feb 17, 2004
Ah, a lockean approach.
And if you read what I said, I didn't tacitly approve it.
Excuse me?

Wraith is right, Montana - I am not technologically savvy - so don't take what I seem to be 'convinced' of, as being what happened. I referred your belief as to what Wraith did to him, as I had (obviously) not much understanding of it.
Sarge's reaction was way OTT... I wonder why?

He's done that when, Montana? Why are you so bent on supporting Sarge?
Excuse me?
Researcher 538645 Posted Feb 17, 2004
Judging by the fact that it took only 9 posts to go from
"You have lots of good things to say, wraith."
to
"I just get tired of you questioning everyone's credibility by way of making your point." - ie, making stuff up.
I don't think she's going to enter into it.

First of all, I have other things to do then wait around for you to post a reply, wraith. Like, oh, have a life.
Second, I've posted the relevant items, and I love that the two of you are ganging up on someone yet again. As if sheer numbers make you right.
I do think you have good things to say. I also think that when you're challenged, you tend to get childish and question their credibiilty. I *NEVER* said you made anything up. You seem to be the one implying that I am making things up. I don't care enough to make anything up, frankly. What you think of me is neither important nor relevant to my life. I appreciate what you have say, but that doesn't mean that by sheer force of both repetition and insults that I will buy it lock, stock, and barrel. When I ask you questions, I'm not looking for a fight, I'm looking for clarification. If you are unwilling to provide said clarification, then say so. Don't insult me and think that that will suddenly make me accept what you say.
As for defending sarge, I'm not. I have said repeatedly, and I will say it one more time, that his response to you was beyond the pale. It was unacceptable. I, more than once, told him that, both on the thread and in personal correspondance. Della says that wraith sent him an email, he says it, and forwards it to me. That's rather a preponderance of evidence, in my view.
Excuse me?
DA ; Simply Vicky: Don't get pithy with me! Posted Feb 18, 2004
Iam not entirely sure what you mean, Montana... Did Sarge forward the disputed email to you? So, do you know him in RL, work with him maybe? Don't be paranoid, I am just asking...
Where you get that we're "ganging up" on you? Wraith has said that *he* feels ganged up on by many Americans, and I know how he feels! He did not do anything wrong, darn it, and that's all there is to it. If you think otherwise, be specific.
Excuse me?
Montana Redhead (now with letters) Posted Feb 18, 2004
Yes, he forwarded the email to me. I'm not a computer whiz, so all I could do was a basic tracing of address. It showed me that the final IP was different than the one his emails had been, and continue to, come form. I don't know what that means, as I'm not nearly that computer savvy. I suppose I know folks who could do other stuff with it, but it never occurred to me to do so.
I "met" sarge through my ex. He knew him at basic training, and then when he showed up here I asked him if he was the same Flipper my ex knew, and he was, so that's where I "know" him from. I've never met the guy in person.
I think wraith did something wrong by messing with/hijacking/playing with (you pick the terms) sarge's email. Does that excuse what sarge did? By no means whatsoever. I just think that neither party was spotless in this exchange. I guess I just have to question how it escalated, and what part each party played in that escalation. I'm not blaming anyone. I think what sarge did was wrong, I think what wraith did was wrong. I don't think either one is "more wrong" than the other. I think they both acted in childish ways, and that's what I was reacting to.
And as far as being put upon by Americans...do you think I particularly like the fact that the (illegally) elected president of my country is trying to reinact the British Empire? Do you think that I find his actions legal or even moral? I don't, on all counts. I think Shrub is a horrid president, but that does not mean that Americans are all idiots, or that all of us voted for him. In fact, he LOST the popular vote, and if his brother hadn't been governmor of Florida, he would have never been president. But what, besides voting and urging others to vote, protesting, signing a petition to have him investigated and impeached, am I supposed to do about it? I love the United States. I hate my government, but I refuse, as so many others on this site seem to want, to condemn my country for the actions of its government. I refuse to give into the idea that because I refuse to do so, this some how makes me complicit in Shrub's illegal actions. You cannot condemn a whole people for the actions of a few, else you'd have to condemn all Palestinians for suicide bombers, the Israelis for Sharon, etc. While others do so, I refuse. Government represents the people (at least in a perfect world), but that doesn't mean it IS the people.

Statement of intent/ability?
Don't worry about these two - wraith is, to me at least, a well known troll and mummy's boy (he's so ignorant he thinks this is an American website - bbc.co.UK, yeah...), and Della is simply a proven liar and hypocrite, to say nothing of her use of racist insults as a debating tactic. In your position I wouldn't dignify either of them with a response.

Part of me wants to defend myself from unsubstantiated statements like this but the more logical part of me recognises futility.
Gee thanks for starting this thread montana, now Hoo/Member/Number or what ever he is this week has come here to insult me and troll.

Yes, I notice, Hoo/Member/Number has come here to rant and rave. He has issues, it seems! I just feel sorry for him...
