The Life and Times of a Crazy X-Phile
, Did you know that 30,000 children around the world DIE EVERY DAY because of poverty. |
Greetings and Salutations !
Hi, I'm Emma, a self confessed X-Phile. I'm Yorkshire born and Yorkshire bred, which does not make me either strong int' arm or thick int' 'ed. Sorry to disappoint, but I don't really speak Yorkshire either, except for the odd extended vowel here and there!
So, a bit about me. Well, after seven long but fantastic (yeah right!) years at Thirsk School, I'm now in my second year at the University of Bradford, reading Forensic and Medical Sciences. Look at me, 20 years on this rock, and I haven't moved out Yorkshire, just from North to West! That's all changing soon though, I'm off on placement to Havant, Hants. AAAARGH!!!!!! The South!
As I've already mentioned, I'm a huge X-Phile (for the uninitiated, that's a fan of the US sci-fi show The X-Files). I started watching the show in it's fifth season when it no longer scared the pants off me! Over two seasons I progressed from casual viewer to full blown fan, and with the end of season seven on the BBC in the summer of 2001, I was well and truly hooked, calling myself an X-Phile, and collecting anything and everything X-Filean I could find. Since soming to uni and getting access to the internet, a whole new avenue of fandom has opened up for me. I used to hang around on the BBC message board until it closed at the end of Feb ), now I'm over at the X-Files Hangout. Occasionally I'm found sat at the computer reading fanfic instead of my textbooks!
The X Files aren't the only thing I'm interested in though, I also like Farscape, The Matrix trilogy, Hitchhikers Guide (but of course!), canoeing, the Foo Fighters, the Who, Keane, The Beatles, and I'm a long suffering York City Football Club supporter. Hence I'm regularly found lurking around Bootham Crescent, sorry Kit-Kat Crescent (if that name takes off, I'll eat my hat!) or deseratley trying to find someone who knows the score! I'm also a practising Methodist.
Well, I guess I've waffled on enough now, you're probably well bored! And I'm only just learning GuideML, so this isn't as exciting as it could be, but hey, it's better than it was!
OK folks, thanks for taking the time to read my intro, and remember....

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
