Number 200!
Posted Sep 27, 1999
Ka-Boom!
I hit 200 visits to my page sometime over my lunch break today!! I don't know who was number 200, but thank you!
In 24 days, this page has received 200 hits! That's not bad considering I didn't know if anyone was out there before I installed the counter!
I'd still like visitors to say hello, merely by clicking below to respond to this forum entry, the next five researchers will receive a link back to their page (as well as some type of friendly welcome message)!
Who's going to be first?!?

I topped the 100-mark overnight (my time) in a little under two weeks time!
Kats-eyes was the one to give me the century mark. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
As you can see at the bottom of my page, I'm participating in the Critique Fun Run so anyone reading this can please hit the link and take part!
It's a great idea and kudos to vegiman for shouldering the work of making it happen! I would suggest that everyone should avail themselves of this great service. Feedback is what writers need to get better! And writing without anyone reading your work is simply mental masturbation!

Hell!

Somebody visited my page today and left this message "you boring fart."
And while I can accept any kind of insult, I find it particulary rude to enter somebody else's space and drop a little insult there!
The page this particular researcher visited is clearly marked "under construction" in the title, and yes, it is boring. But I am using it to compile information about the particular topic rather than scattering pages of tidbits all over my office!
A visit to this researcher's page provides further abuse about this "under construction" entry…
"Why are people writing serious articles? I'm fine about informative ones, just make them mildly amusing too. I mean, what's the sense in writing a Guide if no-one wants to read the dratted thing? Boring dull articles about Pennsylvania are just that: dull and boring. So what do we learn? That this particular American is spectacularly dull, incredibly boring, and has no social life. I mean, this cat is interested in mushroom production, for the love of Zarquon. Ordinary, mundane, throw-sh*t-over-them-to-make-them-grow mushrooms, not ones that make your brain do backflips and sommersaults through five alternate dimensions. Ordinary, culinary mushrooms. Jeez."
I don't think I held a gun to his head and forced him to read anything! Fenchurch received similar abuse recently in a forum she created. What happened to civility? What happened to class? What happened to not being an ass?
OK, tirade over with! What this particular researcher doesn't know is that "Pennsylvania" has a lot of cool entry material in it! For example, when you drive through particular parts of the state, you must keep your car windows closed or be overwhelmed by the powerful smell of that sh*t which is growing the mushrooms in question.
I plan to use the Pennsylvania page as a starting point for other linked pages about things in the state that are particularly noteworthy - like Groundhog Day, Gen. "Mad" Anthony's Ghost, etc.

Ahoy There!!

One of the things that has been driving me crazy is the thought that nobody is looking at my pages!
I often wonder if anyone even visits my home page, so I installed a counter and guess what….
Some of you have!
But you aren't leaving me any messages!
So, here's a chance to line up and say "hello" and give a plug to your own page and what you've written so others (and myself) can return the favor and pay you a visit!
Message ends here….

Help me!?
Posted Sep 2, 1999
As you can see by the link at the top of my page, I'm looking for some diseases. I am trying to put together a good compilation page of diseases, bacterial and viral, that will serve as THE reference for illness on h2g2!
But I need your help!
I really do!!
I'm looking for researchers who know a thing or two about diseases who wouldn't mind sharing that information with the rest of us...
I promise to give proper credit for any submissions (unless you don't want people to know you gave me a particular disease!)
I have put up a few good ones to get the ball rolling, but I can always use more help!
Thanks for reading/listening to me ramble on like this!!!

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
