smiley - rofl yes apparantly Lady Scott.

smiley - dragonqueen a pommie and a limey are the same thing! Hold onto that fact . An American personage calls a Brit a limey, or did. I don't know how common it is among the younger generation. An Australian personage calls a Brit, or possibly just an English person, a pommie. This applies to all generations of Aussies (an Australian)....that's what we call Australians. Just for completeness I should add that we call Americans, Yanks. Although from their point of view only the northerners or is it the southerners, I forget which, are Yankees!

Does that help? smiley - laugh

Lady Scott

During the US Civil War, northerners were called Yankees, southerners were Rebels.

I used to feel all freaked out about having a fan club too, Red. Mostly, these fan clubs are just a convenient conversation spot for the 'gang' to hang around in. Just relax ... you don't have to say much if you don't want to. smiley - smiley

or a rutabaga...

- at least I think turnip and rutabaga is the same kind of veggie.

Mashed turnips/carrots/potatoes with pork and mustard is a traditional dish here.

Not that bad actually, - but it´s time consuming to make the mashed veggies. They shall be peeled, cut into pieces, boiled, mashed... but the homemade stuff is eons better than then the "just-add-boiling-water" stuff.

So what do you call a swede in Sweden? A swede is a big round root vegetable that's yellowy orange inside. Much beloved by us Brits in its mashed form.

You mash the turnips and carrots up with the potatoes? smiley - ill

Why - that's potato perversion that is! smiley - cross Everyone knows that you don't put anything in the mashed potatoes except for the milk, butter and some seasonings! At least not here in America! smiley - whistle

<Actually - I bet it tastes pretty good - I'm a vegetable lover myself, so I would like it - but most of the time the mashed 'taters are pretty straight forward over here... smiley - winkeye)
