'You're so spiteful, you and your man friends.'
Um... what?
I'd consider Blicky a friend, but why do you reach for the generalisation that we 'man friends' are spiteful? That sounds like misadrophy to me. (I made that word up to mean the same as 'homophobia,' but applied to men in general.)
If you think Blicky is being genuinely mean (and sometimes he does cut quite close to the bone, as I noticed while defending Della) then remember that two wrongs don't defend a right. You make some pretty scathing comments too, you know.
As a matter of fact, I would say that you and Blicky have many similarities in how you post. Both of you seem skilled at quick judgements - while I don't always consider them well thought-out, they make up for this in speed of delivery. Also, you don't mince words like I often do. The real difference between you is in opinion, not style.
Perhaps we can all accept this, and cease complaining about /how/ we post as opposed to /what/ we post?

Jordan, there's no need to make up such a word, there's 'misandry' already in the dictionary.

Thanks for that, Alji! I suspected there would be one, but it just didn't come readily to my tongue, so I made one up from what I knew of latin roots.
Come to think of it, since andro- ends in an 'o,' I should have remembered to replace it with 'y'...

Hi Adele
I do wish people would think before reaching for examples.
There seem to be two Mother Theresas. The first is the nun whom the Catholics would make a saint. A woman who dedicated her life to the poorest people in India.
The second is a woman who worked amongst the poorest of India as an evangelist. Who would (and did) turn starving children away from her mission because she preferred to feed converts. A woman who condemned all Hindu's as devil-worshippers. A woman who toed the Catholic line on contraception despite watching hundreds of mothers die after multiple, preventable child births, and who declared HiV to be God's punishment on the promiscuous. However the latter is never publicised.
As for New Zealanders who still regard themselves as Scots first, this is typical of the western colonial attitude. I wonder if the Maori regard them as New Zealanders?
Blessings,
Matholwch /|\.

Then, TEN (count 'em) words later...
"trendoid, wannnabe"
We don't think you're stupid because we hate your views. We think you're stupid because you demonstrate it almost every time you post.
"You're so spiteful, you and your man friends."
Feminist man-haters are so sweet when they swing their pigtails and stamp their little feet, aren't they? You can hear the trembling self-righteousness from here. Bless.
"I am unsubscribing. Happy?"
Well, we probably would be if you hadn't been lying. Ten hours later, you're still subscribed. Too stupid to find the unsubscribe button, dishonest, or just lacking the guts to click it? I know where my money is...

hi Adele,
(to blicky) <>
I have never once called you stupid. However, I do find some of your views very offensive and quite possibly I fear them. This isn't to say I fear you. But a lot of what you say, and the way you say it, is quite scary.
<>
I do? Well, if that's the case then I wonder how I got confused for being a US-ian.
<<(There are other Canadian Indians on h2g2, I know and get on well with them.>>
That's nice, so you are only prejudiced against black people then?
<>
You, as a person, are not in my bad books. Anyhow, I don't actually keep 'bad books'.
<>
Am I? What am I obsessed about? You? Hmmm, don't flatter yourself, honey.
<>
*Just* the abortion issue? As if that is nothing of importance! In fact it is not only the abortion issue but also your racist comments, your intolerance of homosexuals, your irrational hatred of Americans, your apparent hatred of men in general, and the way you will spew out these unpleasant views of yours on a public forum and then whine and whimper that you are being 'attacked' when people disagree with you.
<>
Oh yes, and also your habit of accusing others of having your own less than pleasant characteristics and of doing exactly what you are doing. I am not a spiteful person. But just that last sentence of yours is loaded with spite. I almost expected you to finish it with 'and your little dog too!'.

Ive had a long think, well longish. I was sweeping leaves it wasn't like I was chained to a radiator or locked up on Robin Island or anything.
Now I and people more sensitive, more sensible and smarter than me have tried to have debates with Della/Adele about "her" sometimes vile and often willfully ignorant views and got absolutely nowhere.
Well I'm beging to think we weren't supposed to.
Lets look at the clues:
lots of references to those in the media
scornful of homosexuals
dismissive of modern values
distrustful of men
thin veneer of religiosity
sly digs about AliG (a comic persona of Sacha Baron Cohen.)
Who (what) we have been dealing with is a NZ version of Lilly Savage No wonder they/it/she/him (whatever) was coming out with statements that would make Alf Garnets hair stand on end those things were meant to be outrageously funny. As I often found them.
I can only say that I feel proud Della/Adele to have been your straight man (ooer missus) for so long. Keep up the good work.

minniemouse,
Well, it's my birthday today so I am having a great time. About the thread, I haven't seen you here for ages. I know people can tend to get carried away, but you can always join in at any time. Especially since it is your thread. Probably best to stick to the religious stuff. Talking with Insight. Of course other people will also put in their but that is what public debate is all about.
Anyhow, hope to see you around more often.

'Adele has left the building - the Censors have won'.
How pathetic is that? According to Della we have 'driven her away' just like others on the god thread are trying to drive poor ickle Della away. I mean, honestly.
BTW, someone who is not even involved with this thread ended up yikes-ing Adele's 'wigger' posting, which I thought was quite out of line. But oh well.
I reckon Adele left so that 1) people would feel sorry for her and 2) she was totally unable to respond to our postings.

BTW, where I'm from, wigging is short for earwigging which means t listen to other peoples private conversations. So when I read 'wigger' I didn't link it to race. A wigger here is someone who 'earwigs'
The dictionary definition of earwigging is;
To attempt to influence by persistent confidential argument or talk.

Alji,
To be honest, I had no idea what a wigger was either. Though it was obvious that it was not meant kindly in Adele's posting to blicky, especially as she continued on to state - not suggest - that blicky wanted everyone to become homophilic abortionists. Which I believe is slander?
I reckon that if someone wants to hurl personal abuse at another researcher as a dodge for not being able to answer their posting then they should at least understand the full meaning of the abusive words they are using.

The only person I've heard use the word "wigger" is Eminem, complaining in the song "Whatever you say I am" that people accuse him of being a wigger - a conflation, I have always assumed, of either "white" or "wannabe" and "n****r". It's a good word to describe a particular kind of inner city male youth (usually white, but also possible Asian) who is so influenced by black culture and hiphop in particular that he adopts the speech and mannerisms of his heroes, despite the racial incongruity. Surely the finest satire on the phenomenon is "Ali G", a Jewish comedian who dresses as a racially indeterminate (but definitely not black) 'youth', and peppers his speech with phrases like "for real", "I'm feeling it", and "booyakasha". One of the funniest things I've heard him say was when he opened his show thus:
"R-E-S-T-E-C-P. Thass right. Tonight, we is talking about respect - especially for bitches."
His speciality used to be interviewing people who didn't realise he was taking the p**s, asking them some outrageous question, then saying "Is it because I is black?". Doesn't sound funny on the page - you need to see it, as politicians and celebrities try desperately to avoid saying what they think, which is clearly "BLACK? You're as white as the Ace of Tippex!"
