He didn't do much of importance aside from piss off Teddy Roosevelt.

Generally people liked both of them... but compared to FDR, yes. Yes he was the bad one.

Ah yes, it was Franklin. I couldn't remember the first name.
How was he elected 4 times if you can only be elected twice?

GodBen did you see any of JP2's funeral? I caught some and found it facinating and quite moving. Then I heard the end of a discussion on the radio that really frightened me, how there maybe be a new cultural war between 'believers' and 'non believers'. JP2 did indeed reach out to other faiths and now they are discovering how much they have in common........anti abortion, anti gay, anti women, pro monogamy, etc.
BTW I think the Americans changed the system since Franklin so that a president could only have 2 terms.

It wasn't a law before FDR it was just custom ever since Washington refused a third term.

I find the whole concept silly. If you really like the president then why not keep him n power for more than two terms. *Thinks of Dubya.* Actually, it's a really GOOD idea.
Me see the popes funeral?! I was asleep.
I did see his coffin though. It was very cheap. If I were pope I'd demand a big black coffin with dragons carved in it.

I heard as interesting idea that if Jeb Bush runs next and gets two terms, and then Hillary Clinton runs and gets two terms (or vice versa) then those two families would have had control of the White House for 36 years.

I can't think of anyone... not even the most right wing republican who would vote for Jeb... on second thought...
oh and Jeb promised not to run for President... Lets just see if he keeps promises better then his brother.

It would be interesting to see a presidential race between him and Hillary though.

It'd be just like the recent one. Don't want either one to win but know that somebody has to.

In politics? Nero appointing his horse to the roman senate springs to mind.

That was a perfectly logical political move to prevent his political enemies from gaining power.

Evil are you an anarchist? I once toyed with it as an idea but gave it up, after reading Orwell's, Homage to Catalonia!

Me? An anarchist? Nah. I'm a cynic. I pick fun at whoevers in power. I don't think the world could really survive without SOME form of governance. Anarchy would inevitably end up with whoever has the most guns being in power.
