welcome to h2g2,
I am Mort, <./>ACE</.> (assistant community editor) here to meet and greet you, and help you find your way around this site.
Feisor has compiled a list of links at A719840 to make it easier to familiarise yourself with some of the most helpful entries, but here are a few to be going on with….
Take the <./>DontPanic-Tour</.> - its free and very useful!
If you want to find out something, (such as ‘how to fold a napkin’ or something more serious ) then the best place to ask is <./>ASKh2g2</.>, someone will always have an opinion there!
Visit <./>ThePost</.> our weekly newspaper and <./>frontpage</.> to see what’s happening in h2g2. And the page that everyone always wants to find is <./>smileys</.> click on the link to get the full list or A690518 for help spicing up your page!
If you want to visit my page for a chat or you need any help then click here U204689 , leave me a message and i will get back you as soon as i can.
Happy Hiking!
Mort

Wow! this is much larger and more complicated than I had originally thought it might be. I am intrigued and very much interested in learning my way around.
?????
Can others read my journal? Can I delete a journal entry or guide entry I post? I will probably have more ????? later.
Thanks
Chilliwilli

You can't edit Journal Entries. You can remove them from your Personal Space, though, by clicking the appropriately named 'Remove this Journal Entry from my Personal Space' link, which appears next to Journal Entries. This doesn't completely delete it - it remains as one of the conversations in your journal forum. If you later decide that what you've written is actually worth keeping, then you can reinstate your Journal Entry to your Personal Space. But even by removeing it - anybody that has posted to it will still be subscribed to it and may continue to post to it and you wouldn't know!
So really you can't delete them, just not look at them yourself.
Anyone can read everything you post, including your journal. Anybody who has added you to their friends list will automatically get your journal entries on their message list.
Guide entries are easier - those you can delete by editing them and deleteing all the text or by using the delete entry button.
Any more questions, let me know!!

what particular problems are you having?
Before you can do anything you need press on 'guieml' and then "change style" so that your page recognises you are using it. You will find these under the white text box .

On the whole, most guide ml closing tags are not although the common exception is (line break). It is called a self closing tag as it opens and closes in the same tag.
etc
The reason it kept saying you had forgotten one was because it couldn't recognise the closing tag for the
Until you can update your page the changes won't be made.
Check the closing tags and see how you get on
