I'm just popping around to say hello and thanks for being so kind on the Britishness thread.

I don't know how long you've been actually been around for, but I've only really started to notice you within the last few months, but you've been a really good contributor to the Forum, which has needed waking up a bit lately.

It's funny that the first interaction I had with you was a fairly hostile debate on WMDs, I'm glad I didn't write you off immediately. Of course it helped that you were eloquent, well-informed and unfailingly polite and have been in every post I've seen of yours.

This is a bit random and rambling so I think I'll stop now.

Thanks for dropping in, Iago. Appreciate the kind comments. I've only been on h2g2 since the second half of this year. Stumbled across it quite by accident, but like the place and people here. Regarding our WMD debate, there's never been in a debate in which I more fervently hoped I was arguing the losing side.

Due to lots happening in RL lately, I've been trying to cut back a bit on time spent here at h2g2. A bit like trying to quit additions such as smoking, I think. Not easy. Decided this evening to pop in and see what I'd missed, having not logged in for several days. Was almost overwhelmed by the backlog of posts.

Anyway, thanks again for dripping in, and I'll look forward to 'seeing' you in other conversations. I am sincerely interested to know how your Britishness essay turns out. As you may have gathered, I have a great fondness for the British. Churchill is a great hero of mine. Pretty much saved the world from disaster, imo.
