Well, my girl, I 'think' I can take what-ever you can dish out .... maybe. ....
Was just ironing a couple of blouses (milady can decide what tomorrow will be) and the little girl phoned. She has finished training as a "Resource Mother", which is the lady that teaches expecting Mommy's about nutrition, personal health and all of those other lovely things. At a local community centre. And she starts working part-time as one on Tuesday. All wonderful news, ... a skill and qualification that is recognized across Canada.
But then she gets into how it'll affect this child tax benefit, that tax rebate, no impact on their social assistance (welfare), etc. Among the four of them, they have more tax-free money coming in per month than milady and I net after working 40+ hours a week each, and paying all the taxes that are supporting them. Something doesn't quite seem right there....
So, are you finding any fun or sillyness about the threads, my dear? Being well rested, I'm sure you are in fine form if the Tea Shoppe is in session.

to let you catch your breath*

We have the same problem over here with the benefit system If I gave up work and went on to state handouts I'd probably be a lot better off than I am now! Apart from the money, I'd be exempt from council tax on the house, get free prescriptions, free school dinners, free dental treatment etc etc etc! Like you said, there's something very wrong somewhere
However, I would rather be working and contributing to society than sitting on my backside expecting everyone else to pay for me and my family!!!
you iron??? I don't think my ex even knew where the iron was kept, let alone how to plug it in and switch it on
If I wasn't around to wash and iron for him, then he would get his mother to do it for him! Sad huh?
Just chatting to one or two people but not really been in Tea Shoppe much lately.........been very quiet there!
Are you partaking of a little brandy tonight as you're home alone?
and lots of

Rev Nick { Only the dead are without fear } Posted Nov 11, 2004
I joined the military well before milady. I learned the art of a fine crease and other tricks with the iron. She never quite mastered it. So I ironed all of our uniforms and still do the dress clothes. As a single rat for quite a few years, twice over, I really did have to be self-sustaining, eh? Just more of my life, my dear.
My daughter actually detests being dependent on the support systems, but until they get some skills to them, even joining us in Ontario doesn't improve their chances much. So I swallow it, and help guid them as best we can.....
Indeed, bits of the brandy are going down. And will tomorrow as well, as I am home with no projects that need tending. Just me, a cat and the internet. Sounds like a nice respite, eh? But for tonight, just catching a video of CSI from last week, and checking for my one night-time friend from time to time.

Mmmmmmmmmm that's what I could do with next time round.......a thoroughly domesticated and house-trained man Sharing the houselhold chores even on a 50/50 ratio would be a welcome change!
I've only actually 'signed on' for state benefits once and that was a long time ago when I lived in London and was inbetween jobs It was only for a few weeks but that was enough for me.........vowed I would never do it again!
but what is CS1.........have never heard of it? Must be a canuck thing eh?

CSI - Crime Scene Investigation, a TV series of the last few years. Some fantastic story lines of resolving any variations of crime, using technologies and simple brain power. There's been two spin-offs since, CSI: Miami and not CSI: New York. It's a very popularUS show, filmed mostly in Canada, with about 50% Canuck actors. I've always enjoyed that kind of show, sincy "Quincy" of the 70s.
I've never needed social assistance, and with my own notions and pride, would need some pretty dire circumstances as well. Such as a family in need. So I can understand it, I guess. I just don't like it.
And my dear, while I may be domesticated, and quite handy with the kitchen, the laundry and the hoovering, ... I'm not exactly house-broken. I don't expect I could ever be anyone's "ideal".
though perhaps I might be willing to be 'indoctinated' in certain arts and skills.
and a rather long

tsarina Posted Nov 11, 2004
We have a couple of similar type 'crime investigation' programmes over here too and I have to admit that I really enjoy them
Showing your age now .......I remember Quincy too.....still watch it from time to time on one of the satellite TV channels! Along with Randall & Hopkirk Deceased, Starsky & Hutch, Cagney & Lacey and a few of the other 'old' cop shows
am not looking for a lapdog
just someone that's willing to do his fair share of the household chores! A luxury I've not enjoyed up to now
If you're willing to be indoctrinated, then maybe we could make it a skill swap? You instruct me in what you're good at and vice versa
& a big

Rev Nick { Only the dead are without fear } Posted Nov 11, 2004
That does sound like an intriguing offer. Shall we perhaps exchange CV's sometime in the near future? And 'lap-dog' may have a very different definitions, eh? Not all bad ...
And hey, I only know of those shows from the late-night syndications. Certainly they must all have been before my time and yours.
and lots of
's, dear Lady.

if I didn't know any better I'd say you were being very naughty
But I now you're a perfect gentleman so you couldn't possible be
I wish in all honesty that I could say those particular 'shows' were before my time but alas........I remember them all too well
Starsky & Hutch was a favourite of mine at the time and I quite fancied Paul Michael Glazer until I found out he used to beat his wife up........went off him pretty quick after that
Ooooooops come to think it wasn't him ......it was the guy from Miami Vice who co-starred alongside Don Johnson! My apologies to Paul Michael!!!
and a few well placed

Rev Nick { Only the dead are without fear } Posted Nov 11, 2004
Yes, my dear, I am always the model of behaviour.
I was never much a fan of Starsky & Hutch, nor the Miami Vice show. Just somehow didn't appeal to me. Perhaps it was a gender thing? Both of my sisters were a-gog over them.
Anyone, other innocent-one, I'm gonna go find a few . If indeed the usual occurs, I shall come looking for a lovely lady to say "Hi". Who will hopefully be drowsing too. Until the when-ever ... do check your e-mails, and have a quiet one, dear Lady Helen

Yes I think I shall join you and have a quiet doze while the work load is minimal
Goodnight, sleep well and the sweetest of dreams
