Never seen it before. It's quite amusing, but not really funny. rather like Candid camera with nudity. I don't think it's getting old, it's just maturing. I can't stand Teletubbies, but I'm sure there are some kids somewhere that do like it. Hope it's quieting down now. The pubs are shut and the taxis have ferried the drunks home by now, but it is Friday night after all.

I was on the ten letter anagram thread.
Yeah guess you're right, every-one's going out before Christmas. When I arrived nearly everyone was in the bar here. Obviously not me, I'm lumbered on the nights.
still at least I'm here and sober.
Not very Christmassy this year. Still perhaps I'll pick up. Filled the freezer. Nothing else to buy. Thank God.

I've not been out at all yet but it's the works do on Monday night altho I dont think I'll bother to be honest - think I'll go round to a friends and share a bottle of wine instead

I was not at the firms do, either. Having spoken to some of them I didn't miss anything. Your idea of the wine sounds more civilised. Enjoy it. Working 8-1800 Monday and Tuesday then off until Sunday 28th. Cole is going to her daughter's in Paris, so I'll not be seeing her over the Christmas. I get on well with Laura her daughter, but her son in law Brian hates me. Still families, huh?

Ooppss. Just nipped over to the 10 letter thread and I seemed to have stirred up things there. I took the letters created a word, but although it was the correct letters it was the wrong word and they've all been arguing over it.

Don't do the 10 letter anagram game - have enough trouble keeping up with the 9 letter one!!
Whoever said 'you can chose your friends but you cant chose your family' never spoke a truer word
I'm working xmas eve and xmas nights so I wont be seeing much of the festivity's anyway. I'll get up about 4pm have some dinner and then leave for work again about 7.15pm so that'll be mr xmas day taken care of!

This will be the first Christmas I haven't worked for a while, so it will be nice to have it off.......The Christmas holiday I mean.
I know what it's like to work nights over Christmas. The other year I was working on Jan 1st, starting at 08:00 which meant I had to get up at 05;00 so I could get in on time. After the celebrations the night before, this was not a good idea.

I dont think I'll be drinking very much this xmas - it's bad enough having to deal with drunks on the phone without being under the influence yourself! Sober is going to be the order of the day

It's funny that people never seem to think of the person at the other end of the phone. Still I'm sure you're the type who can deal with them. It's rather like here, you get the producer who think he/she is the only one in the building and their programme is the only one and that you are here merely to serve them and no-one else.

I had a chap f'ing and blinding at me on the phone because a text message he'd asked for hadn't arrived! What they dont realise is, is that we send them out and then they go into their network providers system and if they've got a backlog then there's a delay in them receiving them. They just ring up and accuse us of not sneding them or trying to rip them off! I warned this bloke that if he swore at me one more time I would cut him off - he did - so I did
Some people are so ignorant!

You know what they say. If in doubt, hang up. You can always pretend that you got cut off.
On the underground they have notices about people who are abusive to staff. In my doctors there is a notice which says that if you are rude to staff you will be asked to leave. This is a bit difficult for you on the phone, but surely the same thing must apply. If they are rude, hang up, if they complian later, tell them why.

If they are being abusive then we can warn them to stop swearing then if they carry on we can just hang up on them - if they ring back and complain then we've already told the supervisor what we've done and why so it's not a problem!
The trouble is they seem to think we're psychic and we are supposed to know the opening and closing times of every business establishment in the whole of the UK - even Data in Star Trek wouldn't have all that information

You have my sympathy. I'm just about to watch Countdown, then I'm off for a breakfast. I wonder if I can get another free one

Almost, but no. I didn't. The cashier had vanished, me and this bloke were standing there, I was about to slope off when she suddenly appeared.Damn and blast

Bet, like me, you can't wait to go home, then?
The longest part of the night is that last half hour, waiting for your next shift to come in and releave you. Especially if they are late. It's worse though on a slow night when there's not much work. I'd sooner be busy, it makes the night go faster.

tsarina Posted Dec 20, 2003
I'd rather be busy too but there's busy and there's busy!!! When you haven't got time to draw breath then you just end up knackered at the end of the night!
The last half hour is definitely the longest of the night - never seems to end
