The Down and Dirty
Greetings and Salutations,
Who am I? I think I'm the type of person that hates these damn "Who am I" -type things.
Nonetheless, I am first and foremost a Father of three, and a husband. My hair is turning grey and my feet hurt. I think I have arthritus in both shoulders and a wart on my left, big toe, much to my dismay. Guiness and Grey Goose. Budweiser and Jack, only in a pinch.
I am a degreed Geologist working as a Geophysicist. I have been working in the offshore oil industry for seven years, with a three-year hitch in the environmental field doing water quality work, for a native american indian tribe. I typically spend every other 6 weeks at sea, somewhere in the world that has oil or the potential for oil, at sea. The opposite 6 weeks are spent at home, in the great northwoods of the US.
I enjoy hunting, fishing, nature, science of all kinds and read like an addict. I am currently in my second round of the SF/Fantasy Genre, swithcing genres every few years to keep things fresh and make it easier to find new books. I am also a speed reader which makes it tough to find and afford new books.
I appreciate music of all kinds but am partial to Celtic, Flamenco Guitar, Folk, Classic Rock and Classical. I might have to add Funk to that soon... Vanilla Thunder-please come back!!!
I also have more than a passing interest in the following areas: astrophysics, super-computing, Linux and Linux-driven PC clusters, blogging, geomorphology, planetary geology, cooking, habenero peppers, military history, space technology and auto mechanics (just enough to keep my trucks running).
Dammed if that wasn't painful. My life in a few paragraphs...
