what don't you understand -

batting side score runs
fielding side try's to get batting side out

or do you just want to know where silly mid-off is ..?

Happy, from your description it sounds remarkably similar to baseball, which I semi-understand... but I know they're not that similar.

*sigh*

I'm not a sports person...

I'm still amazed there doesn't seem to be a proper guide entry on cricket yet, Amy. Goshers......?

BTW, may I stop fanning now, Amy? My arms are aching!

there is a reason that no guide entry on cricket exist... Nobody has the courage to explain what the difference is between silly mid on, silly point & silly mid off or why a batsman should not attempt to hook those high bouncers because he could be caught at midwicket. Amy, think of it as baseball but instead of running round a square the batsmen run between wooden constructions called wickets, the batsmen also stays in (& free to score runs) until he is out (caught or the ball hits the wicket (I'm not going to explain the niceties like lbw here but got enough to understand)). now if anybody wants to talk cricket may I recommend http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/F54947?thread=121076 ;-) and of course big for one & all :-)
