Well I might be.

it's kinda like Sigourney Weaver in "Alien Resurrection". I seem to be but there may be some strange differences.

I would have been back since being back a few days ago, butI forgot my new log in name and password and, after shouting at various computer screens, I've tried all the possible combinations and finally got back in.
It seems very strange to discover you have an adopted mother who's less than half your age.
I still don't own my own computer, so I shall have to get on, whenever I can nick someone else's.
I don't think I will be able to reactivate my old page, as I don't remeber ever having a password with H2G2 and I definitely can't remember the e-mail address that was used as it was an old comtel one, and they changed to ntl a good while ago. I think I'm stuffed on that front.
Nice to see you play the guitar, it is a very cool instrument. Which Ibanez do you have? I am an anorak in these matters as well as selling them for a living.

Oh well, you'll just have to make do with this h2g2 account won't you?

The guitar is indeed a very cool instrument. smiley - ok I have a bright blue Ibanez Gio or something. I really have no idea. There's a photo of her on my website, which is linked on my page. I think the directory is "june" or "guitar" or something equally unoriginal. It's linked from the main site. I'm sure you'll find it if you're interested..........

Maybe I should go to the adoption agency and loudly mention that you are back in the safe and warm blue goo that is h2g2 (unless you are using ALABASTER? smiley - yikes). Or maybe not. Or maybe I should get drunk and lie down in a field somewhere and wait for divine (drunken) inspiration. Or maybe not. smiley - drunk

So, how's life treating you?

Up & Down, as you might expect. I never got married in the end but some things just aren't meant to be. I still flollop like a mattress in a swamp though so things are pretty OK.
Your guitar is an Ibanez Gio GSA60 in Jewel Blue. It is almost the same colour as my favourite guitar.
I like the way you've named her June because it was bought in February. That shows a certain sense of style.
I notice you like a lot of heavy music.
I have been helping out a Salisbury band called Junk DNA who are going to be touring the country soon.
You can check out tour details on [url removed by moderator
I think the nearest gig to you would be The Mars Bar in Worcester.
The date has been moved on this and may now be the 26th Oct. This is still to be confirmed.

There's still time.

Oh, cool, thankyou!
And yes, I have style. smiley - winkeye

I like a lot of heavy stuff but I also like very mellow stuff too. Aside from metal and punk, I like indie and also other stuff which i haven't been able to categorise (Goldfrapp, Portishead)
What are you into?

We're not allowed to post URLs in forums anymore. SUch is the effect of the BBC. smiley - erm
I probably wouldn't be able to go to that anyway. But thanks for the info.

Yes, I only remembered after I typed it that you can't add URLs any more. Never mind. If you can think of the band's name with no gaps and assume that they're based in the UK, you can pretty much guess it anyway.
Junk DNA were reviewed in Kerrang! this week, getting 4 K's which can't be bad.
I'm into all sorts of music, mainly the kind of blues based Rock that it's not cool to like any more. (e.g. AC/DC, Kiss, Whitesnake, Bon Jovi, Def Leppard etc) but also into some newer metal (Brutal Deluxe, Kilkus, Lost Prophets, Fear Factory, Disturbed etc)and Blues and blues based rock of all types. I have a great fondness for the pop music of the late 80's (when I was growing up) as there was more guitar and melody in it and a lot more variety in beat than there is in most of today's pop.(Don't I sound like an old man?)
I like some country/rock lie Shania Twain and Dwight Yoakam, I like various classical stuff like most Mozart, some Rossini & Strauss, and bits and pieces from others like Bizet and Offenbach etc. I even have some Vanessa Paradis hidden away somewhere(taped, not bought obviously)
I like quite a lot of guitar instrumental stuff, but generally the more melodic and not so overtly widdly stuff like Joe Satriani & Jeff Beck, also Steve Vai's best stuff and Jan Cyrka (who used to play with Zodiac Mindwarp & has done lots of ads including the bodyform one. I would swear that was him doing the wah intro bit on the Formula 1 but I don't know for certain)People like Yngwie Malmsteen & Michael Angelo just get on my nerves though.
As I do not do the D-word, I find there is no point whatsoever in listening to most house/garage/rave/techno/dance type stuff as it has no other use whatsoever.
I often find I like one or two songs from a particular artist rather than everything they do but mixing & matching is cool.
I try to listen to anything with an open mind and see if it goes anywhere, or has anything to say to me. I never read NME to find out what band I should be liking this week so I missed a lot of the trends of the past few years completely.

I bet you wish you hadn't asked now.

Oh yeah, I am in goo by the way.
It gives you a nice warm cuddly feeling while Alabaster is too sterile, like a stately home.

fyi, ac/dc are on my list of "bands to get into". also fyi, it's a very very long list. smiley - winkeye Fear Factory and Disturbed are on there too. And aside from "Always" by Bon Jovi and "Edgecrusher" and "Obsolete" by Fear Factory, I have heard nothing by any of those.
Late 80s stuff is good! smiley - ok
Not really into classical stuff, but that's simply coz I've never been bothered to. I would probably obsess over it as well, if I ever got my hands on any. smiley - winkeye
Dance/trace/house/whatever sucks. 99%. Only 99 because occasionally you get a good tune. *shrugs*
I totally agree on mixing and matching, but when I "really" like a song, I tend to try and get my hands on everything else the band has done.
I don't generally follow trends. Clothes, music, behaviour, otherwise. I really do do whatever the hell I want in relation to those (within reason). I feel happier this way. smiley - smiley

In the words of my best friend Zoe, who's U37132 or something, "ack... who'd use Alabaster skin? It's plain and boring and it's NOT GOO!"

No I'm not sorry I asked (you might be sorry you replied smiley - winkeye) - Music is usually my main topic of conversation.

And why not eh? I went to "Rock Night" in Bournemouth yesterday. They have a pub that plays what could now be termed classic rock and it's always packed on Bank Holiday weekends. We got everything from Metallica, Offspring, Poison, Alice Cooper, Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, Queen, Guns & Roses etc etc etc. We really need a place like that in Salisbury but it's too full of townies and old people.
C'est la vie.

Ah, that's better.
(Random commment: Nothing Else Matters by Metallica is an ace song. smiley - ok)

Why not build one, or move? smiley - smiley

I've never been to anything music-related. Apart from when I was younger, and I went to a Hanson gig und also a Smash Hits thing, solely to see Steps. smiley - erm I have a bad past, when it comes to music. smiley - winkeye

Why not? Is it a parent thing? Like they think you'll start to associate with dodgy people who get p****d and take drugs and beat each other up and prey on young girls etc etc etc?

Besides, I can't afford to build one or move.

I'm sure you had a good reason for liking Hanson and steps at the time. Obviously now you're 14, you've grown out of Steps ages ago.

Well yeah, my parents are an issue but I've never really thought to go. I've never really been bothered, nor do I know where or when anything happens in this town.

Oh, yes, ages ago.

Aren't there any venues or cool music/record shops where bands hang out and distribute flyers or anything?

No.... I have absolutely no idea when or even where anything goes on around here. I know things do go on around here, for example there's a punk rawk band called 4ft Fingers who are based here (or something)...
Checked the "Chelt Now" website but that hasn't been updated since February..
Maybe I should move smiley - tongueoutsmiley - winkeye

Oh well, try and persuade your family to move somewhere with a busier music scene then.
I've recently been asked to form an 80's rock covers band which sounds like fun. I'll probably be too busy till after christmas though.
We want to celebrate the class rock music of the 80's, with it's big choruses, big solos, big hair and the emphasis firmly on FUN!!!
too many bands nowadays are so miserable or angry at nothing. When kids are down, they don't need to hear some other miserable old sod, they need something to cheer themselves up.
We might call ourselves Gorgonzola as it will be a big slab of cheese. mighty tasty though.

smiley - laugh

When I'm feeling bad I resent happy music. I always feel that no one else should be having a good time.

Today was a very bad day. I stayed home sick and watched the TV. so I have been watching the news about the terrorists in the USA since about 20 minutes after it began, and I'm still watching it now.
It's terrible.
