How Hitch hiker's became my bible...
Or at least similar, well, almost, but not entirly unlike the bible... I started reading hitch hiker's as a teen, and aside from the amount of fun I had, I felt that a lot of the views on the universe were very similar to mine. Though disagreeing with several scientific aspects (of which few are present in the series), it was the closest to my view on the world as anything I had come across,(aside from the movie 'hangar 18') and was the most extensive and elaborate work on the combining of the most important things in life. Love, humor, the unknown, fear, helplessness, fun, responsibility, value of life, 'let it be'-attitude and curiosity, the need to experience all in one. After colliding with several religions and their followers, I realised that their needs were the same, and therefore human, so I adopted the Hitch hikers as my book of reference. Not that I use it as such, it's a neat thing to have on hand when discussing religion. I can say I have a bible too... :-) On top of that most people I meet have read the series and it makes for great fun and clever (insider) remarks in conversations. Thank you for your time, let me know what you think.Conversations
