Approaching a woman on this site (by me) seems to be the worst idea. How-ever ...

I got a small measure of currency that would perhaps pay a one-year-license to a domain name

There'll be Announcements. The Community Company will accept membership fees, I'm not sure what the situation will be with donations though. Watch this space. Um that space. smiley - ok

As much as you and I understand that I have doubts about a long-term future, I would like to give it a damned good kicking, gouging and fighting chance of survival. So the payment to a web-host would be my next ... smiley - erm ... one-time-offer?

(I really should stop using the 'one-time-offer' ideas, they happen again and again, with all sorts of people)

If I can assist the site somehow, you can find me in many ways

Ta, and good luck. smiley - smiley

Ooops, a return. (not unlike so much of the place)

I will be plain. Some have chosen to hold a serious dislike of me. They knew me, and I knew them, perhaps I knew them too well. Before they were important or 'important' friends of the others of their friends that have perhaps become important. Such is the life of the internet.

I had a lot more, but it doesn't matter. You know internet life, some will be smudged by some that will be good. And vice-versa

If tranfer and sign-in options come my way, I will be in there. No better, no worse, no more or less, no knee-grovelling. That is not me.

I do love a Doris Day tune, (of a vintage closer to some than myself)

Que sera, sera ... (what wil be, will be ...)

Hi Nick

I know Z's mentioned this to you already, but the new teams really are starting with clean slates.

We have situations where long-term friendships could skew things, and situations where long-term animosity could do it. The teams are large enough to ensure that situations that arise on site will be handled by people who are not involved and who really do have no "history" good or bad with the researchers involved. More than that, we've put processes in place so those with friends aren't favoured, and so those with "foes" aren't victimised.

You've been told about this before, and you stopped dropping hints and insinuations over the place for a couple of weeks, but you are doing it again.

Here it is very simply: people who break the house rules will be told which house rule they have broken and will be treated accordingly (a word starred out, a post hidden, time-out / a suspension, whatever it might be).

So here's a thing - you can take it as a friendly request from another user of the site, or as a comment from someone who's in a mood to call "bullshit" where she sees it today:

Please stop dropping hints about how badly you expect to be treated. It's not doing you any favours, it's not winning you any friends, it's not influencing people. It just makes you look like fool or a bother-stirrer. If you aren't either of those, then you'll see why it's a habit worth giving up.

It also suggests that you do not believe in Z's integrity, or mine, or the integrity of those who are leading the teams of volunteers. You are of course free to believe whatever you like about any of us, but if you don't actually mean to call our integrity into question then you might like to know that it looks that way. Which is another good reason to drop the habit.

Many a slip between cup and lip, it's often easy to miss the way our posts look to other people - I'm happy to assume that's happened with these posts of yours, which is why I am explaining how it looks from the outside now, before the move.

See you on the flipside, though I'm sure we'll share threads before then. smiley - smiley

I really don't wanna be a Hoo's-who of things, but I think I may have to parse this (if I understand the term correctly)

1st and 2nd para: Yes, I have seen that the teams are as broad of a spectrum of the site as can be found from day-to-day folks. And in that reguard, yes, I may have had earlier doubts about balance. I may have posted eslewhere that, on the whole, the majority of each level and team are people that I trust in their ways and judgement. I hold no qualms of equanamity (wrong or mis=spelle?> of fair play as the world moves on.

3nd Para: I have tried to not do so, but if I have, under the single user account that I own, I do apologize. I am in a very dire and tense personal circumstance

I will lose count. So onewards,

Yes, I have seen people believing they are being targeted. You may be closer than others to ask, 'Does Nick have another account, and using things to beat on someone?' I know that you won't and save you time, ... I have one account, and have NOT sticken the YIKES thing in the best part of 4 years. Many won''t believe that, but it is something that any levels could easily verify if they chose to do so.

On thee whole, I have left all hints of past times behind. Cr@p has happened and some will revive them, but I do not. You might note that in threads, things are tossed at me, and I do avoid direct response or 'catches'. Because it is the sor of thing that could tie up real friends far too much as the new world moves on.

I do not believe that I have called your credibilty nor Dr Z into question. In your your world, the pulling together of this one, or anywhere. if it appears that I have, I really would like to know where? Because it is not a stance that I hold at all, and would appreciate a chance to challenge a mis-read or mis-representastion?

I cannot guess what you have seen, read or interpreted. Nor had interpetations offered. I would be very pleased to keep this wire open for clarifications. Nothing personal about anyone, just good and plain language.

Thank you for calling. smiley - smiley

I beieve that you have a fair and intelligent understandings of our expectations of the site elsewhere. And though I do harbour grudges to a very small few, I do not excerise them on the site. That has proved stupid, detrimental at times, and really done no good.

I have paid a $$$ some time ago to offer health and support to the place, I chat with a few of the core people elsewhere and give what I can, and I will NOT be a tool or factor to affect any demise.

I know that the site is a useful place in real terms, the entries are something amazing to be found in a Google. And I know that it is the real () support for a lot of folks who cannot be into the shoulder-to-shoulder world. I would do nothing to harm that. Or them that need a shoulder of a community (though of late, that term has a bit of vinegar to it)
