....but I see you're back now.
So how's stuff? To quote Richard Milhouse Nixon (in a clumsy attempt to make small talk with David Frost): 'Have you been doing any fornicating lately?'
You've been away....
Mrs Zen Posted Jan 10, 2005
I haven't really been away, just not out and about as much, but it's still nice to be missed.
Funny you should mention fornicating. I went to the Winter Meet, which didn't actually include fornicating per se, or not in the pub, anyway, but which did seem to involve lots of snogging and groping. At one point Kelli introduced a g/f she'd brought along to cheer up to me, Z, KerrAvon and Bruce, and I realised that we *are* the Internet Wierdos her mother had warned her about.
My other fornicating project is an entry I am planning on the care and maintenance of toy-boys.
How 'bout you?
Good Chrimbo?

Oh...same old same old...knee deep in Sylvanian Families...constant bleeping from the Gameboy in the corner...constant lethargy due to the physiological effects of a dark, dreich Scots midwinter.

Anywhere I can sign up to assist with 'research'?

*prods thread*
What are you doing at Easter? Do you fancy seeing a couple of internet wierdos for a drink? Z and I are going to be passing through Glasgow on Good Friday and Easter Monday en route between Leeds and Skye, and if you are up for a drink, then so are we!
Let me know what you think.

If that's aimed at me, then yes, I'd be up for that. I'm hoping it won't be as posh (and rubbish) a place as the first time we drank in Glasgow...

Ooh, I rather like Nice & Sleazy's myself. They have the best jukebox in town, and there's a nice vibe (man). K could come along too - you'd like her, everyone seems to - and she's getting used to meeting 'internet weirdos'. I've noted the date in my diary, and I'll be able to get a holiday from work no prob. I'll be able to stay over in Glasgow too.
So, are you holidaying in Easter?

Nice N' Sleazys? You have GOT to be kidding! How about somewhere more mellow like Babbity Bowster's.

I don't think I'm familiar with there. You don't find N&S mellow? Mind you, last time I was in there was just after I'd had a quick pint in Yates and wanted to die from horror.

I'm easy. Or at least I have that reputation!
My only criteria for a bar, and it is mandatory, is that it should not be too noisy. I like to hear what folks are saying to me.
Liquidindian, any chance of Zagreb do you think? W****E is up for a bevvy.

Have we asked Munchkin and Toccata...? and Zantic,
Should we drop around to the Scottish researchers page and spread the word?

"W****E is up for a bevvy."
She's from the west coast. The surprise is not that she's 'up for a bevvy', but that she would be willing to have something other than fortified wine and have it indoors...
I'm sure Zagreb can be tempted with Guinness.

Ah, now. If it's Guinness we're after - there's that Irish pub on St Vincent Street, a couple of doors down from the Drum and Monkey. Sure, it's a chain theme pub, but the Guinness is fine, there's enough seats and the music isn't too loud. If only I could remember its name. Something obvious like Molly Malone's. There's also Waxy O'Connor's on (?) Ingram Street - just past Buchanan St, the other side of Nelson Mandela Place. You know - the one with the flaming torches. Midn you - I don't think I've actually been in it.
Or how about The Fiddlers' Elbow, on Albion St in Merchant City - diagonally opposite Blackfriars. That area would give us plenty of options for alternatives - plus we could even drag our visitors down to experience the Heuchtie-Teuchtie music in the Vicky/Clutha/Scotia triangle.
Ah, choices, choices....
My vote's for Merchant City anyway. Decent pubs. Not too crowded - and it's also near a 'taxi nexus'. (The Bonobo taxi nexus theory : The best place to hail a cab is at a junction through which more than one routes converge bringing taxis back into a city centre after they've dropped off fares. Trongate is the best nexus in the city).

"W*****E's ... from the West Coast..."
Yep, and you are from Fife, Mr Indian. Makes you a fine one to talk. They drink potato beer there!

PS - I quite liked Waxys; the interior is so surreal.
