Mrs Zen

...so....

What's the Plan?

Z and I should be around sometime during the afternoon of Good Friday.

Hopefully it'll be Edward the Bonobo, (Mrs Bonobo?) liquidindian, Zagreb, Weegie, Z and me. Almost a mini-meet! smiley - smiley

I'll email y'all. Mine is still [email protected]

Well...there isn't a Mrs Bonobo...she's a Ms . But a) she has to work on Saturday and b) we never get to go out anywhere together anyway, on account of the Bonobolets.

My strong preference is for somewhere City Centre or Merchant City - within reach of trains home from Central. The easiest option might be a (boring, admittedly) Weatherspoon's joint.

There's The Counting House on the corner of George Sq.

Or how about The Candy Bar: http://www.glasgowguide.co.uk/pubs-g2.html#The%20Candy%20Bar

I've never been there, but it looks OK.

City Centre / Merchant City works for us. We need to catch the underground back to the hotel we are staying at.

Weatherspoons has the virtue of being cheap and you know what you get, but it is very productised.

My main concern is that we should go somewhere where we can hear ourselves talk, really, and for that we need local knowledge.

Happy to be guided by y'all.

weegie

the counting house gets really busy ... how about the cask and still (is it still called that?) on hope street ... or how about one of the many bars at candleriggs, there's some lovely (quiet) ones in there.

I've suggested The Candy Bar - just opposite the Cask&Still and a little more gemuetlich. Also, possibly handier for food choices than Merchant City. But I'd be happy with Babbity's.

You know I'll just follow you lot, I've only been to Glasgow once.

The Candy Bar is a women only place in London and Brighton.

Indeed. But I'm fairly sure that this one isn't.

....although I've just slightly gone off the idea, having seen this: http://www.worldsbestbars.com/city/glasgow/candy-bar-glasgow.htm

Oh, go on, someone...make a decision!

I'm in hospital at the moment and that link comes into 'alcohol and tobbacco' catagory which is banned.

All we want is a bar somewhere with decent Beer, we *will* have to leave it to you Glaswegians to make a decision. In fact Ben isn't even bothered about the Beer..

LAST AND FINAL DECISION!

Lloyds Bar, 151 West George St (between Hope St and Renfield St)
Nearest underground Buchanan St
Uphill from Central Station.
To find it on streetmap.co.uk - G2 2JJ

It's a Weatherspoons, but more steelwork and wooden floors than tacky carpets and curlicues. If it's too busy or too noisy, we can always move on.

'I'll be the man smoking two cigarettes'

Works for me. smiley - ok

Unless anyone objects, I'll get a helium balloon and bring it with me. Less odd and embarrassing than having a towel, and I see no reason to go out and buy a chimp. smiley - smiley

Weegie, darling, do you want to Do Something in the afternoon? expected eta in Glasgow is about 3.00pm.

Or I could wear an h2g2 tee shirt?

If you bring a helium baloon I'm ignoring you! As of recently I've a rough idea of what you both look like from Azahar's gallery. (And very fetching you both look too.) If that doesn't work, I'll simply accost every person who crosses the threshold.

(Try not to stare at my mouth. I've just lost a crown and I don't think I'll be able to get it glued back in on time).

Ok, no balloon then. (Shame that!) I'll brace myself to be accosted by random chimps.

Weegie, it'll be good to talk tonight. smiley - smiley

Also...I've e-mailed you my mobile no. You could always text me so I have your No. in case of last minute thrills m' spills.

(The potential problem I mentioned has gone away. It turned out to be a bizarre case of Munchausen's by proxy)
