OPh yes, smiley - choc goes well after pretty much anything! I'll be getting some in awhile, now that you've 'nudged me in that direction'.smiley - winkeye

I'm not sure how undercooked an artichoke can be...I usually have them on a pickle platter. You know cold & marinated in olive oil(but I imagine they're cooked or steamed first).

Right see you!

I usually steam mine with garlic and a bay leaf for about 45 min and then dip it in hummus (garbanzo puree). The tricky part is that you have to cook it slowly over a low boil (unless you have a pressure cooker, which i don't), otherwise it doesn't cook! I figured this out the hard way one day when the windows were open and blew the flame out from under the pot...i tried to salvage it by putting it over a huge flame for 5-10 min, but in vain. smiley - sadface the problem the other day was that i needed to get over there in time to catch the first movie so i didn't get to cook it quite long enough. then (just my luck) i missed most of the first part of the film anyway, so i was kinda frustrated. but overall we had a good time.

i think i'm going to get some smiley - cake, but first i need to work on a piece for oboe. see you!

Ah smiley - silly me! I Should've thought of cooking the whole item, but because I've usually had it diced...I guess I was just thinking that segments or sections would cook faster.

You seem to pretty much have a good method of preparation. The hummus would be a great touch!smiley - oksmiley - chef Of course circumstancessmiley - ermintervene every now & then. Too bad you missed the first part of the film, I know what that's like. But at least things went reasinably well, that's good!smiley - smiley

I'm still rather stuffed from a late smiley - fish & veggies lunch that I had, with 2 pieces of onion naan to soak up the sauce. So I'll wait awhile, but I'm thinking dark smiley - chocwith almonds later. see you!

I just love food. I love grocery shopping. We have pitiful produce in this part of the country (which is only available at places like Wal-Mart....blech), but I try to make the most of it. I do make it up to St. Louis once or twice a year for a Costco & Target run smiley - ok though. Mostly for marinara sauce from the Hill in large quantities and Chocolove(thanks again), but I have in the past gotten really greasy veggie burgers, muenster cheese, and a whole bunch of other goodies as well. I also shop at a natural/health food store about half an hour from here that does great stuff (my summer favorites: dried figs and dates!).

Speaking of food, what to do for lunch today? I'll see if there's any more of the French bread. If so, I can make a proscuitto/provolone/sauteed pepper & onion sandwich.smiley - drool

Talk with you soon!

*TV talk-show host voice*"thank you Nancy, & continuing with todays topic of food..."smiley - laugh My lunch was a food court meal, but a better-than-average one. Not just a Burger King smiley - burger or Taco Bell burrito(KFC chicken or whatever), a nice serving of Jamaican Jerk chicken. A well-seasoned chicken leg on a bed of moist fluffy rice, with a small salad.smiley - smiley

I sometimes get fresh salami, prosciutto, etc for sanwiches at The Italian Centre, or maybe stop to have one of their pre-made sanwiches before I shop. For ethnic shopping right now, I'm itching to get to the Indian area of the city & probably http://www.fruiticana.com ...ooh seedless watermelon in their online flyer!smiley - ok But yes you've planted the sandwich seed in my mindsmiley - winkeyeso a trip to http://www.italiancentre.ca is also in the near future(trivia, my sandwiches are usually on rye bread).

Ok catch you soon...oh & check my 2 posts to ~E yesterday & today!

Now that you've gotten me thinking about chicken and rice and salad and sanDwiches (smiley - biggrin) and watermelon and gummy smiley - pandas, I'm going to need some lunch soon.

Last night I had a cool pasta salad-type dish. It was very simple, though. I just chopped up some (homegrown) tomatoes and basil, added that to chilled bowtie pasta, put in some minced garlic and olive oil smiley - drool...along with some very buttery warm garlic bread! For that I put a ton of softened butter, some garlic powder, and a heaping of grated parmesan (sp?) cheese. Yum.

I ordered a Jon Stewart book Monday, which I'm looking forward to recieving. I need a small repose into comedy every once in a while smiley - winkeye...
