Wipeclean.
Does River Island have a site with a picture of their hat? Idea-poaching time.
ugh... changing rooms, with the lighting arranged to make you look extra bad.
I like trews to only come as far as navel-level, no further; women's in general go to the waist, and since today's sizes do not acknowledge for waists (where *have* they gone? <lament> men's fit more snugly. Jeans at least. It's either that or those all-purpose unisex cargo trews with many pockets.
Generic goth= mockgoth. Although most of *them* seem too timid to wear anything other than hoodies and cordurouys (?) with the occasional mass-produced 'lace' vest over the top. And their flat dead-black hair and smudge of red eyeshadow, o'course.
According to reliable sources almost anything is now considerd 'Goth' fashion (with all its subcultures); which on one hand is nice and egalitarian, but on the other where does it leave folk? It is like every style of music being termed 'Rock or Pop'.

I don't know. I haven't really looked around online shopping sites yet...I will go and google for it now, and see.
Yes. I don't like old-man trousers. I don't want them to come up to my armpits!!!!!!! *imagines a whole army of old men in old man trousers*
Ooh. The mockgoth discussion again. Well. I am probably a goth in some dimension of time, but I don't do make up (unless I am going out to a club) or any of the cliches of clothing. I just wear what I wear now. Hoodies aren't always bad...but cords? Aaargh!!!
Slipknot are goth, because Newsround said so! Did you see that? The *teen culture* thing they did - a 13 year old with the worst make up imaginable, thinking Disturbed and Slipknot were goth! Ahahaha. And they had a *skater* kid who listened to indie, and thought it was skater music.
Hilarious stuff.
*sighs and wipes a tear of mirth away*
Ah. Life.
*goes to google*

ugh.... army of old men! all muttering about hotpot...
I did not think I was goth, after all what does it matter and to whom, but I joined the gothfashion list since it is informative, and it seems like anything goes now. Fashionwise at least. Sometimes it seems like the only qualification is a slightly-off sense of humour or how things are. Mockgoths are getting easier to spot since they get their style tips from things like Newsround- I saw it! and cried... someone put it up for the list to laff at. It was widely opined that the goff kid looked more like Data from StarTrek.
Thanks to Slipknot for making it easier to mock the Mocks.

The Newsround thing was somewhere between the grotesque and the hilarious. Not sure which was stronger. I am betting that they got the highest ratings ever though...nearly everyone from the alternative community must have been watching to see how they are trying to disintegrate us.
Is that the name of the site? GothFashion? I wouldn't mind popping along to it. I still need to know how to do various make up/clothing bits and pieces...
I do have a confession : I used to get a lot of my fashion tips from the American chat show makeovers - like Jenny Jones and Maury Povich. Nothing overtly obvious (most of my ideas were nicked from people off the street to tell you the truth) but bits and pieces. But that was back in the 'day when it wasn't hijacked by kiddies.

I didn't see the tv version, just the online report which preserved their shame for all to see. They must have got a lot of post, if nothing else... and Newsround used to be credible! (I believe- then I never used to watch it when I was in its target age group, it bored me.)
www.ncgoth.com/gothfashion
has many super links to sites to buy things from, and learn from. Antimony&Lace is a particularly good source of simple information.
I like ideas from anywhere... although I don't like to simply nick ideas, that'd mean I was wearing someone else's stuff. It is puzzling that in any other context, plagiarism is bad, yet in fashion it's an accepted and encouraged subdivision (designer knockoffs etc.) however if the only people getting their ideas ripped are couture designers who have priced themselves into the stratosphere, so be it.

So they put out an online version of it too? Ohhhh. I must find that. Absolutely brilliant stuff.
*head is in a spin*
It's funny when people get things wrong.

It caused mirth. Almost as much as some of these...

Ah, I just needed to catch up on a few things. Reading and Life. Otherwise I wouldn't be the interesting person that I am today!
Speaking of which, I should go back and take a look at your site again. ALMOST decided what I want to purchase...

ahh... I need to catch up on virtual life, since I just had an assessment which would not even allow time off for sleep. Stay up til 4am Photoshopping and writing up notes... sleep til 8... drive mother to Aldi to buy pond... (?) hand work in.
Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! That's better.
There are two new corsets onsite btw. And I managed to get a ruined castle in the background, too. Bonus...
do you still have the services of that moneyed feller?

Saturnine Posted May 28, 2003
I do indeed. I was wandering around your site earlier. It's not my birthday for at least another month yet, so I am still *shopping*, so to speak. I definitely want the leatherette bodice... So you'll have some of my money, either way But I have this whole list of things I want to buy. Shirts. I neeeeeed some white shirts. And a belt. And a black tie. And then there is something small and laminated and red I want to purchase...
I noticed the new corsets... The DollyMop (?)...I liked that one. Mind you...it's all really good. *jealous*
Ah. So many nice things, so little money.
I have been online all day...wrote a whole new Guide Entry this afternoon! Bliss.
Pond?
*OOOOOoooooooh*
Phryne- 'Best Suppurating Actress' Posted May 28, 2003
I have been trying for *months* to get a decent picture of the embroidered one... the place it was taken is reputedly haunted by *just the head* of Lady Jane Grey's father. But sadly we did not see him.
And I now have 3 more corsets for me to finish... not to mention 4 for other folk. Silk is the colour of the moment, and the word on the street is... I'll stop there.
new entry?
yeah... a pond. If there is anything new in Aldi which is sought-after and on special offer, like a computer, you get folk queuing up before it opens. She was worried that they'd run out of ponds before we got there so we arrived at quarter to 9, and there was a queue of 15- count them, I did- 15! people outside.
They weren't after the ponds, however, but the flat-screen TVs.
It was rather League of Gentlemen.

Silk? Ah. I am ahead of the times. I like lace right now. My mum brought me home this whole roll of pure white lace a few months back. I can't sew, so I have no idea what to do with it. And it's a weird width. Like about 5-6 inches wide Maybe I should send it to you...
Ah, the Aldi phenomenon. Heard of that. Weird. But it makes sense. They do sell things weird prices sometimes.
New entry = "Japanese Food : Bento" And I have just started another on Kenneth Anger's book "Hollywood Babylon"...
Something to do I guess.

mmm... lace...
charity shops are good for cloth. I picked up a whole six metres of pure silk saree for 50p in the Red Cross... unbelievable.
Leave it hanging from something for an instant 'I'm Creative, Me!' vibe.
The Aldi computers are pretty decent AFAIK; however I like their crisps and ice cream.
mmm... Japanese food... actually I only have familiarity with sushi, and that limited, so I will read it.
*OOOOOoooooooh*
Saturnine Posted May 28, 2003
My room is "I'm Creative, Me!"'d out. Posters and writing on the wall...no room.
I haven't even eaten sushi! I have just been reading about Japanese culture recently, and it was something I could write easily about. Find two good sites to piece together a Guide Entry from.
I really should make the round of the charity shops at some point. Haven't for ages, and being that I have very little money, it might be worthwhile. Sometimes all it takes is a little clothes dye...

just like Fuchsia Groan... 'CLOWDS- 7'
mmmmsushi. I want to make mizu yokan but can't find the ingredients. I go a bit mad in oriental groceries; unwise, since they are generally *very small*...
that, and charity shops.

Saturnine Posted May 29, 2003
Ironically enough, I have a Fuschia Groan quote up there...
I am currently mad on curry. Mainly Tikka Masala, and Korma. I have a new one in the cupboard to try next week...
Oh clothes. Clothes. I love clothes so much...

Phryne- 'Best Suppurating Actress' Posted May 29, 2003
If I ever possess an answering machine of mine own, it will be my message: "Go away, I'm not here now."
ooooooooooooohhhhhh curry!
I don't know if it's just me, but I've never had a bad Indian takeaway. mmmmmmm chicken tikka masala with keema naan and shami kebab... and they are good value considering they last me for at least 2 days.
Yes... clothes...
I finally have some orders, though, and hence some cash. To spend on making more clothes.
Key: Complain about this post
