You need to make more generous use of the smiley - drunk smiley..I think (I hope!) it conveys what you mean a little better than the smiley - tongueout smiley. Of course, what you really need is a saucy little tongue-resting-against-your-upper-teeth smiley smiley - winkeye. *purrs thinking about Njan mannerisms*

I think when you come over here that I'm going to drive you home through coeur d'alene..oh wait. it'll probably be dark...d*mn! fly in a couple hours before dark smiley - winkeye..if not more. don't they have flights that would have you here in the morning? you need to do that *goes to look at expedia*

wait..why the hell aren't i just emailing you? smiley - silly (i love the smiley - silly smiley)

ooOOoo..the very first one would be great! you leave UK at 6:30 PM and get here at like 10:45, just in time for lunch! *grin* yeah yeah, we could drive the 20 minutes over to CDA and have lunch on the lake! woo!

INS sucks..it has to be said. there has to be *some* generous relative who will help me...ergh. i'm going to just assume that I need a joint sponsor - they're going to take one look at my finances and start smiley - laughing smiley - winkeye. and then they'll tell me I need one anyway. might as well get one now.

it's odd being online without you here smiley - wah.

smiley - tickle

I wuv you Jamie-fish!! (smiley - laugh Are you going to kill me if that gets around? smiley - winkeye)

lol..a little kid is being walked by his mom..she's trying to get him interested in the books to their right, but to their *left* are rows and rows of compuuuuutersss...now you wanna guess what little boy is looking at? smiley - smiley

Oh - I think I did OK on my test. *giggle* I was impressed just that I read (and absorbed, mostly) 150 p of kinship content. We'll have to see what she thinks of my essay response. smiley - tongueout. I had to bullsh*t about Nuer kinship/gender/etc. as contrasted with that of the Nepalese Brahman and theorize as to why gender roles and the treatment of women varied so much within these two patrilineal groups. Well...to me it was obvious; one has a conception of lineal purity whilst the other does not. With the Nuer, bridewealth in effect buys the husbands rights to the womb, so no matter who she sleeps with, all children that proceed from her womb belong to his patrilineage. With the Brahman, simply, a woman who is not a virgin at marriage or who commits infidelity will be executed. It would suck to be a Brahman female. They are married at a very young age and taken into the husband's father's household; so paranoid are they of her ability to taint the family line, that they treat her badly and give her difficult work to do until such a time that they can begin to trust her (about the time she bears a son, and thereby is linked more strongly to her new family). Nuer's are quite interesting - every person much die with ancestors to carry out rituals in their name. So, to provide for men who are infertile, the wife may commit 'blind-eye' adultery, and her child will be her husband's. If a man dies with no heir, his brother will marry a woman and have children in his name. This is really intriguing; if a woman proves to be barren, she will be allowed to marry a *woman*, and will choose a husband for her, the children from whom will be considered hers. In this way, women can achieve a fair amount of status in Nuer culture. Additionally, it is not entirely unusual for strong-willed women to divorce and remarry at will, residing with whom she chooses. The point here is that women are not condemned or seen as dangerous because of their sexuality. I think it's funny that most euro-american cultures would see the Brahman system as horribly sexist, when in fact it much more closely resembles our ideologies.

Well, this turned into a spiel, didn't it? Sowy! But I have like 15 minutes left, and I'm boooored. smiley - yawn

Remind me to do my taxes smiley - smiley.

With Greatest Love!
