h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

I've got a temp job at Wal-Mart as of ... well, three months ago, actually. It's remodelling, and needs people to do so. I'm feeling traces of "oh, gods, I still have a full month left of this ?"

My external hard drive, with 95% of everything of importance on it, fell off my desk a few weeks ago and is now a nonfunctioning hard drive. I'm hoping something can be done about it, but it looks like *most* of what can be done about it would cost $500 to $2000, and I've got sensitive information on it (e.g. passwords, financial info) which I wouldn't want even professional technicians to see. I'm making do, though, to the extent that this is actually possible.

Fortunately, most of my pursuits are online ones. Ah well.

Ouch, sorry to hear 'bout the external harddrive. That stinks in a variety of ways. None of them literal.

I'm reminded of when the Penny-Arcade guys suffered a hard drive crash. That was...one, two years ago? Time flies.
