Arpeggio - Keeper, Muse, Against Sequiturs, à propos of nothing in particular Started conversation Jun 23, 2001
There seem to be a lot of yous. We liked/understood the poem in your journal. Who are yous?
We are collectively LeKZ. I'm Arpeggio (the semi-deservedly notorious), and I'm the one who signed on to h2g2, though it certainly is not me who does all the writing.
If yous are ones like we are ones, drop by and say hullo.
If we've completely misunderstood, that happens too. Just say so, and we'll be about our other business.
We like holding mirrors up to face each other, but they never let you see to infinity... it's not fair.

'Time-Machine'.
It's good. (What an insipid compliment. Try again)
It is evocative. Understand and other elements. Speaks to Reality as We Know It. It could be speaking of a reality we don't know at all, but it also so happens to speak to ours.

That wasn't intended to be a poem. It was just an explaination as to why Janine's sword, which is called "Masamune" in one forum, is called "Slicer" in all subsequent forums. I don't really worry too much about Life and the Universe as long as you don't try reading too much into Everything, for Bob's sake!

It's always nice to meet a Bob-fearing person/s. Sorry to have read stuff into Everything, but if it's there to be read, it pokes the eye of the beholder.
Never mind...

Offering?
Dunno. See, we thought, from the way you'd written about all the Ys, that you might possibly be a multiple person, which we are, in which case we thought we'd say hello.
Evidently we totally misunderstood everything we read. This does happen from time to time. It's an eye of the beholder problem.
Er, no offence?

[YK] Well, sorry, I guess /I/ misinterpreted what /you/ said.
[Janine] [entering] Hey, what's going on?
[YK] Not much, just talking to this ... er ... "multiple person."
[Janine] Oh. [exits]

Arpeggio - Keeper, Muse, Against Sequiturs, à propos of nothing in particular Posted Jun 24, 2001
Well, it was the 'YK and Company - Don't assume that YK himself is actually here!' that suggested the idea.
So is this a case of mistaken identities or of 'it takes some to know some', or us still making a of our collective self?
Janine? YK? Anyone?
We were not trying to offend. We thought we saw a something that we're still not positive we saw, but it seems likely... how's that for equivocation? Lame. I know.
Always on the lookout for a peers group,

Well, this researcher has one person in command of about 50 characters, some of them regular. Is that what you had in mind?

Arpeggio - Keeper, Muse, Against Sequiturs, à propos of nothing in particular Posted Jun 24, 2001
What's please?
50 'characters', as in role-playing game 'characters', or as in 'characters' who share the same body/life as you and are separate people from you but also sorta not - like we have?
There's no one 'in charge' here (though some of them like to think they are). We just share the same body and general values, and some of us have almost perfectly overlapping memories, and we remember the same scary parent-beings, houses, and schools (except for the ones who don't).
The person who thought she was 'I' for a long time used to *think* of the rest of us as a 'Cast of Characters'.
I wonder whether there is any communication happening here or whether you and we have TOTALLY different vocabularies and conceptual frameworks...
Uh... any better?

OOC means "Out Of Character".
And my fifty characters are for roleplaying.
They all have distinctly different personalities, though. For instance, YK is "Chaotic Good" (the type of chaotic that defines "when I absolutely need to" as "when I really want to"), YC and YQ are pretty much the same except for the differences that become from being clones; Zelda is a more or less proper princess; Link is happy-go-lucky except when you do something that might involve hurting one of his friends, in which case he ... makes you wish you hadn't; all their antics make Elbert nervous; Y4K is an utter moron, and his brain has the type of personality that would say, "Two words: temporal anomaly" as an explaination; and Janine is pretty much Yuffie meets Misty meets April O'Neil.

Ahh.
Okay, NOW we think we get it. Ex-brother was very into role-playing games... and *also* heard voices in his head, so the two totally different concepts are not necessarily UNconnected, but...
We misinterpreted/overinterpreted/superimposed our understanding of reality on your world. Sorry about that! We have never messed with role playing games, just acting, stand-up comedy, performance art, professional and amateur singing, and other role-playing activities, especially psychotherapist . We don't need anyone 'made up', because we were all 'made' in the things that went under the names 'childhood', and 'adolescence'.
Different. Not incommensurable, but very different. Thank you for clearing that up. Now you can get back in character. and we shan't pester you any more.
