I just saw a girl from Peru,
And I was just amazed at what she could do,
Standing on her head,
while kneading some bread,
and tootling on her Kazoo!
(I won't start anew - there's a kangaroo loose next...)

From his cage at Taronga Park Zoo
There ya go - vaguely amusing AND educational. For those not in the know, Taronga PArk Zoo is on the Sydney HArbour foreshore - that's a pretty good view top waste on animals!!!

So I snagged the money,
*reminder: A limrick has a rhyming scheme of
8 sylables
8 sylables
5 sylables
5 sylables
8 sylables
Occasionally you can cram a 9 in an 8, or adjust by using contractions, but it really doesn't scan comfortably so if you have an 11 sylable line, your best bet would be to think of another line. A good way to test it is to say it out loud.

Aparently:
============
A limerick is a very structured poem that can be catagorized as "short but sweet." They are usually humerous, and are composed of 5 lines, in an aacca rhyming pattern.
In addition, the first, second and fifth lines are usually 3 anapestic feet each. The third and fourth lines are usually 2 anapestic feet.

What is an anapestic foot when it's at home?

D'OH!
6. That was a 6 sylable entry. You see, on a Monday I prefer to sound as pompous as possible and then do something obvious to totally humiliate myself. How'm I doing? Should I take of my clothes and streak through the forum, or have I shoved my foot far enough in my mouth to warrent true embarassement?

Don't feel bad about your meter, Krissy Lee. What I usually do, if I don't have to rhyme is come up with an idea and then think of synonyms that for the idea that fit the syllable count.
For example your line could be:
So I snagged the cash,
But in the More Limericks forum, speaking for myself, I don't think it matters if your meter is right on (or even near by). So to continue the limerick:
When caught with my hand in the till
By a Cop who was also my friend Bill
So I snagged the money,
...To buy myself honey,

I'm sorry I made fun of Kris
How remiss, now no kiss's
My life once full of bliss
Is blighted by Kriss's hisses
Key: Complain about this post
