About Me
OK, my name isn't really Arnie. It's Alan Palmer. When I was at school the top golfer of the time was Arnold Palmer, and so my classmates called me Arnie. When I later started using the Internet I needed a nickname, and Arnie seemed to fit the bill, so Arnie I became. When I signed on here at h2g2 back in 2003 I had to give a name of six characters or more, so I added a P at the end. After a while I started getting told that there was no user called ArnieP even though I'd written an article that is still on the site about Lorem Ipsum, plus taken part in loads of discussions.
Anyway, I just joined again, but changed the name to arnie_1.
I've been on the Internet in one way or another for about 10 years now, and have been maintaining a Web site about Greenwich, in southeast London, for almost as long. It started out small, as I had been allowed some space by my ISP and wanted to make some use of it, and has "just growed", like Topsy. It's had its own domain for about five years now.
