Oh ok so it is doing something...it updates but just as if it were in Plain Text even though it clearly states it's in ML The one day of me understanding is beginning to look distinctly further off

Looks okay to me, except that the smilies don't seem to work. All the bold bits are working fine.

Tinkerbell *tumbleweed* Posted Oct 27, 2000
'Scuse me? You mean it's working??? You mean I've been sat yawning for hours for no actual reason???
*runs off to look before shouting abuse at BT for surely they are to blame*

The Fish Posted Oct 28, 2000
I've found the same bug...
I tried refreshing several times, to no effect... the only way it seemed to figure it out properly was to put a
?skin=classic
after the page....
And I think you should keep the "Dr." Ev I haven't got bored of it, it would just be frieky for you to be just E. Vibenstein.....!

*walks back in*
It's working now thanks
Just out of interest is this something to do with caches...I'm not sure what they are you see but I keep appearing as someone else when I log out and it was suggested that this might be the problem and it'd explain why my home page never refreshes
*looks at The Fish*
Do you use BTinternet?

Dr E Vibenstein (You know it is, it really is.) Posted Oct 28, 2000
Aaaargh, BT, I should have known. *bangs head repeatedly on desk*
It's something to do with them storing the most popular pages on their own servers to save you time when you're downloading them, but it's useless for sites like this because they update so frequently. It's okay for other ISPs because they load the pages straight from the h2g2.com, but BT seems to load them from its own server and they're out of date most of the time. Does that make sense?

Tinkerbell *tumbleweed* Posted Oct 28, 2000
Oh come on you must have known that I'd be able to blame Bt for this
It kind of makes sense but I still don't know how to stop it being so annoying

You're not alone Tink - it sometimes takes me 10 minutes to get an updated homepage - you know, showing most recent postings and stuff.
And when I was writing my page, it sometimes didn't want to update either, but eventually did, sometimes after a tweak, sometimes after nothing at all.....
Which reminds me, I really should do something with it. It's growing mould.
Hmmmmmm.......
*scratches head contemplatively*

Are you on BT too?
*fingers start twitching near the Ferrari flag pole as she wonders where the nearest BT HQ is*
Ooh, you should have flashy lights and sparklers...and fireworks and pretty stars that fly around and music...and fairy lights

Zebedee (still Pool God after all these years) Posted Oct 28, 2000
Well, possibly.
I think the warning will have to suffice whilst I consider what to do with it. Any suggestions will be gratefully considered.
BT? Yeah, I'm on surftime via Lineone. Haven't had any problems yet, touch wood.

*rubs EV's head better and then grins*
Y'know just as I was typing that BT could wait for another day my computer reset itself completely because...there was problem with the BT connection
*grins*
