Well now really, ... there's such a thing as too much equality.
How's the week's professional challenges getting on? Need any help making stuff completely incomprehensible?

I kinda like it when one is a bit superior to the other. And particularly when the roles reverse. It adds just a bit of other variety to the day-to-day life, you know?

Of course, being very cautious of any "inter-locking" things, eh?
BTW, would you like a few zillion gallons of rain? We really seem to be having a surplus of the stuff lately. It's not even soaking in, or running off, much anymore. And if you don't need it, ... have you an e-mail address for that carpenter/boat-builder guy? I think his name was Noah.

always cautious
I think we could use some rain.. the last few months have not been that rainy. August was wet, September definitely not.
and there's a guy about 200 km from here building a boat like the one you mean.. should I try to see if he's hiring deckhands?

Rev Nick { Only the dead are without fear } Posted Nov 16, 2006
Naturally, I'd prefer comfier fare on your neighbor's "boat" than as deck-hand. But when the waters are tickling a chin, beggars cannot be choosers, eh?
A recent new article from a local paper explains a few bad attitudes around here. In September, October and the first week of November, there has been less than half of the usual number of sunny-days, and a good 50% or more above-normal rain-fall. So if a body the least bit susceptible to SAD (seasonal affective disorder) they'd certainly be feeling it these couple of months.
Or maybe I'm just a grumpy, grouchy old coot.

as I remember the story the skipper only took animals and first degree related crew along I'm not sure how my "neighbour" .. ( 200 km away is in NL the other side of the country!!)
September was a warm month, and yesterday, 16 November, was the warmest November day in history (of weather recordings) with average temperatures over 16C . Today the weather looks wet and miserable. still not cold, but miserable.

Then I guess you'd have to hop there and back a couple of times,
Have you and the little herd any fun things in mind for the week-end? I have to do some photo manipulation, printing, laminating and then binding into custom calendars for family gifts. And then package all the Christmas prezzies for shipping in the coming week. Not much rest going to be found, I think.

.. no! with the size of the country the ideas of acceptable trip distances also change. 20~30 kms is reasonable, 200 km is a trip to plan over two days. Besides the petrol prices, around 1.30 to 1.50 Euro per litre, discourage hopping
and we'll start to work on December shopping. Xmas is different here, the parcel/presents-thing is 5th December: St Nicolas ( the other)

Rev Nick { Only the dead are without fear } Posted Nov 17, 2006
Hmmm, and I always thought the Catholic feast of St Nicholas was December 6th. Mind you, you being closer to an international date line, maybe you just celebrate EVERYTHING earlier?
And just as a not-so-subtle hint, reguarding your shopping, ... My size is large currency denominations.

Just as a tidbit of trivia, Saint Nicholas is revered by many as the patron saint of seamen, merchants, archers, children, students, prostitutes, pharmacists, lawyers, pawnbrokers, prisoners, the city of Amsterdam and of Russia.
No discrimination there, eh? EVERYBODY is to

Babette - Dinosaure Posted Nov 17, 2006
yep, that same saint nick
and indeed I remember looking him up in the encyclopedia at age 8 or so, asking my mum what on earth prostitutes were
she never clearly answered that
and the presents are unwrapped the night before so on the 6th everyone can happily show off with the new .. .. sweater, socks, ...

Rev Nick { Only the dead are without fear } Posted Nov 17, 2006
Ya know, when you lump together all of the prositutes, lawyers, pawnbrokers, merchants and other undesireables, ... and then see Amsterdam ...
It makes me REALLY want to visit there.
And hey, you can never have too many socks, undies and sweaters. Just PLEASE, no more neck-ties.
There's NOTHING like a good back-scratch ...
Babette - Dinosaure Posted Nov 17, 2006
yep, I think you summed up most of Amsterdam
no more neck-ties? ah, maybe you already have more than 366 of them??
There's NOTHING like a good back-scratch ...
Rev Nick { Only the dead are without fear } Posted Nov 17, 2006
I have no idea how it has happened, but I find that I have atleast 15 or 16 ties! Now I'm pretty sure that I didn't buy them, so perhaps the things are breeding, ... in the darker corners of my closet.
So, if Amsterdam is so, ... ... interesting, and you don't live there, ... Does that speak well, or poorly, of YOU?
There's NOTHING like a good back-scratch ...
Babette - Dinosaure Posted Nov 17, 2006
well, I think ties don't breed, and I also think that if you cannot wear a different one every day of the year, then you don't have enough of them
and .. why should I live with prostitutes ??
There's NOTHING like a good back-scratch ...
Rev Nick { Only the dead are without fear } Posted Nov 17, 2006
What I meant was, are you too bad, or just not bad enough, for the city?
And you see, I only wear a proper suit perhaps 3 or 4 times a year. So to have even a dozen ties is far too many. Though one of them is really pretty, with and elves and a sparkly tree and a glowing fireplace. It gets funny looks at Easter though.
