Lakes for Him, Oceans for Her
John the gardener says, "Free Tibet!" Posted May 24, 1999
You raise a good point. Perhaps a significant factor in our choices is missing the the we have the least access to. That's probably why I find myself going on about the sea. By the way, I've written a page about Whale Watvhing, if you're interested.

I'm next to the sea and I don't vote for it, but I'm also not voting for lakes. In fact I also live near a river which is what gets my vote, I know it's like asking for a beefburger when someone askes "life or death" but I can't vote either way, so your theory is probably right and I'm just a nutcase. So EVERYBODY's 'appy!
In Praise of Rivers

I was wondering when the third candidate would enter the fray. There's a lot to be said for rivers. In fact (ahem!), I may have mentioned some of it in "The Grand River", a user page ode to my personal favourite.

Ok point taken I'm off there now, oh and I spoke my views back near the start of this conversation (no one listens to me!).
One last thing, I've got a few pages waiting for a verbal bashing, so please repay the compliment.
Oceans or Lakes? - You Decide.
YZFVroom Posted May 24, 1999
I lived near lakes all of my life. Grew up fishing, water skiing and swimming in them. But, the last few years I have spent on the coast.
And I have to tell you, the ocean is where its at. I haven't every caught a 70 pound Halibut in a lake. I haven't been able to touch a
mammal nearly twice as big as the boat I was on in a lake. I haven't ever been able to scuba dive in a lake and see fish all the colors
of a rainbow. And in the same instant see the majectic beauty of a jelly fish as it floats along in the water. I haven't been up close
and almost too personal with a 4 foot Ling Cod in a lake. However, I have experienced that and so much more in the depths of the sea.
Ever look into an Octopus hole and all you can see is his giant eye? Its an something you never forget. Or come upon a ship that
slipped beneath the waves to become an explosion of life. Its not so much what is on the ocean as is whats in it. Sitting on the
ocean floor breathing compressed air listening to the call of the sea and watching all its creatures just live is simply amazing.
Oceans or Lakes? - You Decide.

Definitely lakes - mainly because they're warmer. I've been living in England for a few years now and the are, where I
live, doesn't have either. But I grew up with lakes around me, ready to jump into whenever summer came along.
Oceans are too cold and contain scary things that bite and scratch you. I also agree with the earlier entry - canoeing
is definitely fascinating.

Okay, if we're promoting pages, check out my three pages I've written (Anti Gravity, Cricket and University). Cheers Guv, I'll do the same for you.

You have to remember that lakes are warmer only because of all the people living around them who urinate into them
You will definitely need a toxic-proof wetsuit this time next year
