At a Crossroads

I stopped keeping a journal about five years ago, but then that was for my eyes only and this one's rather public. Therefore....

I rather suspect this is going to sound a lot like a Personals Ad than a journal entry...(sigh).

Right now my days are passing like treacle because I'm out of college (not paroled) and haven't yet found a job yet. Therefore I'm boning up on my HTML and assorted software skills on my Mac G3 and learning to pitch myself as a web-developer.

I've been studying film for twenty years and have yet to use any of the knoweldge; I've been studying multimedia for 10 months with the same results.
Throughout that time, I've been working internally to heal the psychological scars I grew up with, and have gone from seeking my inner-child to working with my inner-adult.

I'm now seeking to move in three directions at once: find the woman who'll be my life-partner; develop my spirituality; start my new career (that sounds like I had one before...). Start my career.

I'm fascinated by the new turns the web is taking, and keeping up with it now puts me only about six months behind everyone else. I'd love to know what SQL is, I keep seeing it posted on job adverts. I'd also love to learn about e-commerce as I've got a lovely multimedia book to produce and need to know something of the environment it's going to be released into.
Is this enough to start with?

Sing to the tune of "'Ere We Go"

Congratulations on having a G3. I'm not sure what the point of your entry is, however: perhaps you could explain it. (Also, I don't konw the song "Ere We Go")

You must know the tune, same as:

Just be kind to your web-footed friend
For a duck may be somebody's mother
Now a duck likes to live in a swamp
Where the atmosphere is very very damp
Oh you may think that this is the end
Well it is.

I vaguely remember hearing that song years ago, although I never did know the words;

Okay, I now know the tune. What does the rest of the message mean? Or should I use Sherlock to find it?

A celebration of the huge thing which is the G3 Mac. It's that simple.

Paladin of the Lost Hour

Good morning, Fruitbat. I saw that you were on and thoought I'd stop by to say hello. We've discussed Things Ellisonian previously and I wanted to alert you to Ellison Webderland. (Have I mentioned it before? If so, I apologize. It's nearly two am, and I have five hours to go before sleep.) Whatever the case, it's a wonderful sight, with some links to other good Ellison spots on the web.

I found myself reading your post here and thought, I'm in the same boat (minus college experience), except that I have luckily found the woman who is my life-partner (or rather, she's found me). I wanted to ask, has the move been any smoother lately (re:the 3 directions)?

Hi Paladin,

yes, Ellison Webderland is an oft-frequented reference in my bookmarks. I love reading his rantings before he has to water them down for general consumption.
Finding the right woman (if you're a man) is a wonderful place to be; I've found a woman who is ideal (as far as I can tell) and am both waiting for her to decide when she's ready for being attended and if I'm the person she wants it from.
The career's a little bumpier, although to forecast is a little rosier now than it used to be: my quest is for a business-partner to handle the administration while I do the dreaming.....so far, not much luck (though that likley has a lot to do with my presentation of what's going on).
Have now to build the .com site and put in all the appropriate links (this is the digital-mechanics stuff that doesn't excite me much, although I do get pleasure from building a site that functions properly and fits the bill) to promote what I'm up to.
My commitment to my personal project has come under scrutiny recently, and others have decided that I'm quitting too easily; they've obviously not had to keep something alive, by themselves, for six years.....
