Hey, Babel - thanks for dropping by. I've been busy at work with the Edinburgh Festival and haven't been on much recently. I really enjoyed meeting everybody and was sorry I had to dash off. I'll set the whole day aside next time smiley - smiley

I'll get on and look at those pics and talk to you after I've seen them.

Ah, saw you online, and at Marie-rae's birthday party, and remembered that I had left a message for you, ages ago, so a-hunting I went, and here it is smiley - smiley

What have you been up to? Work treating you well? I only really got back on here about 2 weeks ago, after a forced absence kept me away. Added to the fact I got a bit morose about everything (see last journal entry on my page). But I am back into the swing of things again, just in time to be knocked off again next week, with no chance of being near a PC with internet access smiley - sadface

Anyway, just thought I would catch up and see how you were smiley - smiley
Hear from you soon, I hope.

Hello again, yes I've been chatting to Mari-rae elsewhere, and she's great fun.

Had a week off work so no internet access, but it does your RSI good anyway, so it wasn't all bad. Of course, I did a load of other muscles in by doing shite jobs like digging out a Lavaterra bush that got out of hand, trimming a 15foot high hedge, and getting some sheets of MDF back from Homebase precariously strapped to my ageing Passat's roofrack. Ah the joys of suburban life!

I have attempted to address the problem of morosityness on your journal page, so we could move this chat there for a bit.

Yes, I know what you mean. Because of my shift pattern, and working weekends, I get a 'Rest Week' one in 4, and I generally have to do that sort of thing. Last time it was a new loo roll holder, in the downstairs loo, and a drying rack in the Utility room, so that we aren't cluttering up the spare room trying to dry our clothes smiley - smiley
I shall reply to your other post 'over there ------->' or is it 'over there <------------?' I wouldn't really know smiley - smiley

Hope you had a good one, and are all set for Saturday smiley - winkeye
What are your plans for travelling through? I believe you mentioned catching the train. What time? and have you decided on a return time?
*debating on whether or not to catch the train and come home, thus making it an early night, again, but keeping her happy, or whether to drive through and stay at mothers, thus having to drive back through on Sunday to keep her happy. Oh wqhat to do, what to do smiley - tongueout*

And a braw guid New Year to you, mah man!

My, it's dusty in here, isn't it? I'm going to get a cleaner to come in and do my forums once a week, I think.

Well, I've not spoken to Lyns yet - I'm not sure she's back at work this week, but I'll give her a call if not. I was planning on the 1130 out of Ediburgh if it's still running, which should give enough slack for the occasional emergency that seems to be mandatory for every train trip these days. I'll be getting on at Waverley, since we'll be out shopping (hurrah!) in the morning. I was planning to get the last train back, because there'll be stuff to do that we won't want to get too rat-arsed for, so I at least will be trying to keep it reasonably civilised, but that doesn't mean everybody else can't get have gravity-influencing fluids if they want to.

So I'll check on Saturday morning what the state of the trains is, and get whichever is nearest to 1130 (erring on the cautious side if they're not running to the usual timetable).

There. Does any of that make sense?

If I remember correctly, she told me she thought she would be back at work tomorrow (Thursday), and yes it does make sense smiley - smiley
If I decide to take the train (so expensive these days, I remember..rant, rant) then I need to make sure I am back in Edin in time to catch the last train back to Dalgety Bay ie 10pm from Glasgow. There must be something about me leaving these things at 10pm. Or I may decide to take the car and not have too much to drink, so that I can stay to the end, but get home relatively early on Sunday.
Decisions, Decisions. smiley - winkeye

Hiya, well, Lyns and I talked today and she and I will get the 1130 from Waverley on Saturday, Scotrail's wonky timetables notwithstanding. We'll be bringing recording devices of all sorts with us - visual, audio and photographic, so you might want to consider doing the same, even if it's just a compact camera. The sooner we start collecting the material the better, especially since the end of January is the deadline. And don't THOSE always sneak up on ya!

That reminds me, must get the car MOT'd before the tax disc runs out (didn't make it last year...)

Yeah, I had a chat with her myself, this afternoon.
Still trying to work out what's best. She said she might be coming back around 10pm anyway, so might just catch the train through.
The more the merrier smiley - smiley
Bit busy atm, work, doncha know, so will catch up with you later.

Glad to see you got back safely, but I would like to apologise for leaving you in the lurch like that, after promising to get you back to Queen St. but in my state, the offer of a lift was too good to pass up. I assume all was well on your return trip, and you didn't have too much of a sore head yesterday. DD dropped me off at home around about 12.15am and I slept till 12.30pm. Nice. Very lazy day and back to work for 8am today. Joy smiley - smiley

Not a problem, my man, and thanks for thinking of me! I wasn't sure of the way back to the tube station, but it was easy enough to find, and as I said elsewhere, I was on the 2230 with time enough to buy a rancid bacon and egg roll and a stewed cup of coffee. Sunday was perfectly fine - I passed on the usual 10am trip to the swimming pool with my partner Moira, and by 1130 when I got up I was absolutely fine. I have a sort of protection mechanism that kicks in these days whereby I start slowing my consumption down as the night goes on, so I haven't been totally wrecked for quite a while now. Still, there's hope for me in the future, I'm sure.

Well Met, Good Sir!

That's ok, then. I just felt a bit of a heel, having said I'd get you back to the station, then saying, sorry I'm getting a lift after all.
was good, though. Had a nice chat to DD and FC in the carsmiley - smiley
As I said in the other thread, I'm quite happy to host your pics for you.
you have a scanner? If yes, then can you scan them in at 75dpi. More than enough res. for a web pic. then send the files to me:
[email protected]
and I'll organise a page for them.
Simple. smiley - winkeye
*quickly runs off to brush up on his HTML as it's been a while, drops by EV's site and nicks the code form his pics page smiley - winkeye*

Yep, we got a scanner for the office when I used to do a newsletter, but one of our engineering bods found it and has it stashed away in the basement for his web site work. But now I'M doing some web work, to be precise, Beeb intranet, he can jolly well hand it back to me. Especially since he's off to work in Amsterdam from the start of next week.

Did you guys take Caroline home as well? I seem to remember her saying she had to leave at ten o'clock as well, but she was still going strong when I left.

Well Met, Good Sir!

Post 20

Babel17

Don't you remember me telling you that that was the reason I was getting a lift? Er, to rephrase that, the reason I was getting a lift home was because it was only a short journey from dropping Caroline off in Bannockburn, to dropping me off in DB, and they didn't want me to leave either smiley - winkeye

She was meant to get the 10pm train from Queen St. but DD decided they would run her home instead, and going strong was just an impression. I was proping her up, as she kept wanting to slide under the table. Every time she yawned, she gave a high pitched meep, which I found highly amusing (not to mention endearing, but Shhh! I didn't say that, ok smiley - winkeye) smiley - biggrin

Ok, just send the scans through when you are ready.
