hey Spiny!

The PostResearchers have started the image hosting site for the Guide. So if you have an image that needs a home, go to http://www.h2g2.com/A208478 for information about how to send it to them.

So now you can start redecorating your page!
Lemme know if you need any help.

'course your page might end up looking like a dragon's lair...

Well done, you! And thanks for the credit! I take it Lego appears as a separate item, though, which is a shame, as it definitely merits the term "classic". Perhaps a subbed-down version could be added? Although as it was your idea, it's your call, obviously smiley - smiley

Actually, I had intended to edit the article myself, but those pesky PTB took the article [just because I had submitted it, the sillies] and went ahead and 'pared it down' before I got to it.

They also made everybody's contribution equal; you, me, anonymouse. This is Guide policy with articles that have several contributors. And it's fine with me, too. smiley - smiley

I talked to John-the-Gardner when I noticed it was being edited [yesterday], but it had gone past the stage of me doing anything else with it. Another article in the 'series' could be written though. That was his suggestion. We deifinitely have to give Lego it's due!!!

Anyway, congratulations! And besides, it was the start of a great adventure for us. I never would have gotten to Edinburgh, otherwise...

Hey, that's true, and you wouldn't be pigging out in state in one of the town's best restaurants either!

Strangely, I've just come back from the Traverse where I went just an hour ago to record two actors doing an extract from their play for our radio programme. Obviously I couldn't resist having a look in the Atrium - and there we all were! Strange coming face to face with your virtual self. The restaurant's looking very Christmassy with lots and lots of white lights, but I think I've sold you short with the menu: confession time - I made that one up - the REAL Atrium menu is MUCH fancier than the plain old food I was offering you *blush*. Anyway, we looked like we were having far too good a time to care about that!

Oh, Spiny, what a wonderful likeness!

Who is your photograper? They have done such a wonderful job capturing the 'real you'.

You are just as I imagined you to be. And you don't look the least bit tired from all that dancing...

Why thank you. blu! It was a very tiring photographic session, I remember. The photographer wanted to use slow film and a small aperture for maximum definition, so I had to try and keep still for ages, and I kept nodding off and spoiling the picture. Finally he produced a bottle of fine malt whisky and the glazed look you see is the end result!

So now I need to work out how to align him right and embed him in the text. I put that in the Guide ML stuff, but nothing happened. I hate my own ignorance sometimes.

Oooh...GuideML!

I love it!

I am an HTML code addict. Although I am not so good with the heavy programming issues, like javascript and cgi, etc. I am pretty good with the basics, if I do say so myself.HTML3 or HTML4.

I have been doing all my pages in GuideML because I was taking a class in XML and wanted to see how the front end worked. It has been great practice, but all the parsers, etc., are still pretty confusing to me. At least in the Guide the hard stuff is already done, we just use their parser that is already set up.

I love it!

So, if you need any help, let me know!

So when are you going to get that iMac???????
Then we can talk all night...
I'm sure Moira would LOVE that. haha

No...no!

It's not that I wouldn't love to talk all night, blu, but that is exactly what would happen! I couldn't have a computer at home because my life would be in ruins, I'd just spend so much time on it. I'd probably forget to eat and waste away to nothing. So I'm resisting the lure of a machine at home, at least until we get ISDN or something as fast for domestic use, because I also couldn't handle anything that wouldn't run as fast as the stuff I use at work.

So, go on then, wise one, tell me how to put Spiny on the right hand side and have the text flow around him?

Right, off you go back to the Assembly Rooms and meet our new friend!
