Hi Nitpicker
Nitpicking again
Romance has been aroung for quite a few thousand years and I think it will be around as long as the human race (and the birds and bees) are living and breathing.
If you want to vote for another page - be my guest - You dont go to a voting booth and put on your voting slip *anyoneone but Tony Blair* or *anyone but Bush*. So come on give us your vote.
Romance is still in the lead.

Strictly speaking romance has two meanings;
1. a general name for the languages that developed out of popular Latin (French, Italian, Spanish etc) and
2. a tale of chivalry (especially one written in verse) written in one of these languages; any fictitious and wonderful tale etc
(Chambers 20th Century Dictionary)
Today it is used, incorrectly, to include sentimental novels such as those published by Mills & Boon. To me these are not relevant to life in the 21st Century and should be considered fantasy not romance.
Enough nits picked for now OK?
I also vote for the psychotic page - votes tied at 2 all. Unless someone else gets involved in this ballot it looks as though it is up to you to decide veg! :-p

Sill time for someone to come in and brake the deadlock. Thanks for the English/history lesson Nitty - but facts are always available to back up any argument. [Middle English from Old French romanz, -ans, -ance, ultimately from Latin Romanicus Romanic] *************** We are living in modern times now and the original meanings of words do change - A word that has changed its use in the last 20 years or so - I am a gay person but I am not Gay:-P language // n. 1 the method of human communication, either spoken or written, consisting of the use of words in an agreed way. If the populace // n. 1 the common people. 2 derog. the rabble. understand the meaning of a word to be one thing, does it really matter what the original mean was. Therefore I conclude that romance is relevent :-) to the rabble. This lengthy answer does not imply I vote for romance over the h2g2 feud (Funny Farm). Why Ali went for Funny Farm, Lady C - If you read the thread; http://www.h2g2.com/F10333?thread=31857&latest=1 All will be explained. veg:-)

That article was written by Ginger, she used to be around a lot in the early days of h2g2 - she still pops in from time to time. She met Doug in the h2g2 forums and they will be getting Married soon - (Sept).

Ginger and I chat too. She's here more than you are suggesting, but is moving tomorrow into rented accom. due to house purchase problems. I mentioned their meeting in my POST article about the TW Live event. A lovely story.
