Hi John opti here
Opticalillusion- media mynx life would be boring without hiccups Posted Oct 13, 2005
yep and I have moved on to what I like to call stage two in driving reversing the car, going up and down hills and travelling around round abouts
and are in order

Congratulations again, then.
Roundabouts always give me the willies. We don't have many of them here, so you can't take anything for granted when you come across one.

sounds worrying .... I think the one thing i'm not going to like is taking off at great speed on to another road with cars travelling at crazy speeds. I also hate it when people urge you to go fast my bf was caused to go fast round a round about and I thought I was going to be killed by driving into sign posts!
have gone into a little depression again as my bf has returned to his family we only get to see each other every other weekend. Which is a big shock from the 24/7 we had at uni. I also can't see us moving anywhere soon with housing prices the way they are.

Roundabouts are not so bad, really. I think the most important thing, with driving the same as anything else, is not to push yourself too much and try to do things you're not comfortable doing. It's better to be cautious and safe. Driving fast comes with confidence, which comes with experience. What's the hurry, after all?
Has your boyfriend finished uni?

Yep my boyfriend and I went to University together He's a year ahead of me but took a year out so he ended up in the same year as me. We lived together for two years (with other people) and spent a lot of time together despite studying very different subjects. Its odd now cos we aren't in one another's pockets but our families and its driving me crazy. I see Unc and PSG and they've got everything going for them (ok there are the exceptions though for even them). It's difficult cos I love my family but I want to be with my bf too and with house prices the way they are it looks as if I'm going to have to spend the rest of my life with my family.

I know exactly what you mean and I bet my driving instructor does too. I am really comfortable just driving around the houses at the mo. I'd be freaked out if he got me driving on the main roads just yet. One bit of traffic at a time is enough for me to cope with. Not sure of his comment 'playing with traffic' sounds scary doesn't it.
Hi John opti here

It does sound scary, like 'playing with fire'. Patience is the best policy, I think, for novice drivers and those who would teach them.
Sorry for taking so long to respond.

Thats ok been quite busy myself.... I have now got a driving lesson following minimal sleep but my mind wouldn't let my body sleep last night!!! This has happened since I was a child theres no switch off to my mind!.
I think patience maybe something I need to learn to do again and but can't remember how to prevent these!

You're certainly not the only one if you need to learn patience again. I think the same could be said of most motorists. What's worse, most of them seem to have their mental switches stuck in the off position, judging by the things I see on the drive to work each morning.

It's just stage fright with me really. I suppose I just have to put all thoughts about what they may/may not be thinking out of my mind but its not easy to do.

It's important not to let yourself be distracted when you're driving, that's true. On the other hand, being able to read traffic and, to a certain extent, being able to anticipate what other drivers are about to do is an important part of being a good driver. That comes with experience.

driving is rather a touchy subject in my family at the mo
I think I have a long way to go and looks like its not going to be as easy as I think. I think I'm a fine little learner but driving instructor and parents contradict this...leading to moody opi nearly being homeless!

Oh, dear. Don't let other people's expectations worry you, especially when're you're driving.

I've got people on all sides bothering me about it. I can't ignore everyone. I am also going off my instructor.

Driving seems to be one of the very few things that everybody feels comfortable expressing an opinion about. You just have to tune everybody out while you're having your lesson.

Thankyou
Having spent a few days away i have come back feeling like i have swallowed a tennis ball! But the few days I spent away from home have been varied, interesting and mainly of mixed feelings. Do I leave home again? Where will life take me? that sort of thing has been pondering my mind lately. Of course I know the one who has the answers and to trust in them is all I need do.
Graduation was hectic and it was more relaxing seeing my bf graduate the next day.
