Summer is here?
John the gardener says, "Free Tibet!" Posted Aug 21, 2004
Hi there.
I've not been spending much time on the computer lately either. Most of my spare time for the past week or so has been spent watching the Olympics, trying to get some sense of what is going on there from the rather uninspired tv coverage. Still, there have been some good stories emerging from Athens.
No, my computer doesn't do Chinese characters; so I have to stick to dim sum, too. Never mind, though, I eat it with chopsticks and it still tastes good.

Hello JTG!
There is something new, from something old.
If you care to look up my Journal Entries I call your attention to my last Entry: MY HORTICULTURE.
The Olympics does not interest me any more like long time ago. There is too much corruption, mostly unnoticed or covered up. This kind of a competition does not agree with my principles.
Sane sport for exercising the body, move the mussels so they have an opportunity to develop in nice balanced way, that does not happen this way.
These athletes are overworked, have very limited human interest in intellectual subjects: They spend years only for the Olympic competition to win a medal.
Yes after that they can become pros, but again: is only one limited part of their existence as a human.
Like the Beauty pagent: Miss America,Miss Universe: as time goes bye they also become just a wrinkled old woman.
Is it worth it? Not from my point of view. The moments of lime light when it goes away--- remains only a passing memory. The money what comes with it? I don't know, have more respect for an intellectual achivement, because it is more HUMAN.

You're right. Summer is almost over. My summer friends are starting to leave to go back to school.
I agree with your appraisal of the Olympics and most of the athletes. But it's still fun to watch, a nice change from the dreary stuff that is our normal tv programming. Apart from the blather about medals and so on, there are some very human stories that emerge, as much about human weakness as strength and speed.
