Introduction
Hi there!
I'm Dan, 42 (well, 43 actually now) and a long-time Douglas Adams fan, since the TV series anyway, and later I fell for the books in a big way thanks to my friend Dave who lent them to me back in about 1987.
Together we devised our own Hitch-Hiker tributes, including 'Dirk's Directory' (a listing of all the names from the books, a kind of guide to the Guide) and a couple of issues of our own fanzine, 'A One Bovril Sandwich Idea' (Douglas once described his creations as being measured in distractions/inspirations such as Bovril sandwiches, baths and so on).
I was born in East Africa and spent most of my early life either travelling around various countries between there and England with my parents, and when I was old enough to travel by myself I moved to London and spent most of my later life travelling from bedsit to flat, until I got married and moved to Essex with my wife, Ruth. Having spent most of her life NOT travelling, she wants to go everywhere, and so we're both effectively Hitch-Hikers now.
Glad to be part of the Guide!
Dan

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
