I'm open to suggestions on the name.
Figured on just making a space where we can discuss this idea away from the QI boards.
I've got an idea for the question I might use too.

Sounds excellent that is fine... how about an example question... A prize for the winner could be a simple list in the post or on the QI roll.

Can you explain more what you've got in mind for prizes. I mean the points system is sufficient for the regulars here, but you mean something above and beyond that for this, so how would that work. I'm interested to see how we can work that out.

We have 3 choices.
A badge for the ps.
A list of winners in the post or on an entry maintained by the post.
Or a list on the QI members on the Roll.
All 3 could be further extended with a mention on the front page. what do you think.

Well the simplest of those is the second one.
And I can see that working.
We run a PitP once every so often, this one will be the first, and Researcher X wins it and is written up in the usual fashion (1st, 2nd, 3rd + last)
The following edition, we publish the solution and the ranked order.
The next time we run a PitP, same deal we just add a row to ranked order. a bit like The hole in one memorial wall you see at golf courses.

Good thats settled then QI members encouraged or not, as this should not be for us.
What sort of question have you in mind

Well I've got one about rainbows I've sat on for quite a while.
Got to decide how I'm going to dress it up though. There's so much about them that lends itself to QI but I'm lacking my usual "view askew" insight which takes it above the kind of general knowledge know-it-or-question, or the kind that is an easily exhaustible list.
I need to do some more reading around until I find my 'hook'.
