The first step is to tread gently with Gnomon. He is one very intelligent chap who has written over 100 entries, and knows the ropes. He does, how-ever, bristle if an author questions his experience or authority too brusquely. Hey, any knowledgeable expert in a field will, eh? So do take his inputs and ideas as solid, and not personal, okay? Just my tuppence.
Secondly, take a peek at A395697. There's a drop-down box of the (hopefully) current sub-editor volunteers. If you see someone that is familiar and that you feel comfy with, give them a call. I could name a couple that immediately come to mind, but I know they are already quite swamped with the volunteer stuff and real-world.
Beyond that, I'd suggest do as you're doing ... Ask friends to give a look and make suggestions as and when they can. The guide is going nowhere anytime soon. With patience, because there ARE a number of pieces, you'll have quite a feather in your cap.

Sorry mate, I missed this thread somehow ...
I'm also sorry if you found yourself caught-up in another bit of stirrings. If EVER I understand people's needs for such stuff, I'll write a book and be financially set for life.

That IS good. Dissent is never a good thing ...
So then, are you back to the grind of trying to sell big boxes on wheels?

Some day, a decade or two down the road, I'd like to lease or rent one. For a good month or more, to just see some of this country. Because I wish to, and not just because I'm obliged to work in a particular province or territory.

The question is, by the time I can retire and actually travel, say perhaps as early as 2020, what will the price per gallon be for fuel?

bobstafford Posted Jan 3, 2007
If you aked the question in 1985 what would you ave said if you knew the fuel prices of today...

Probably be about as disbelieving as I am today anyway.
It's just one of those many things though. Like heating oil, electricity, groceries ... You need 'em, and so no matter how much the price climbs, or more taxes and levies get applied, you find a way to meet them.
Or rob that massive bank depository, run away, and buy up some Carribean Island. Set yourself up at KING !!! ...

BTW, from the INFO page, I saw an odd item ... a BobStafford Messages thingie. Following it, I saw that you did quite a lot of experimenting under Unconformity's "GuestBook" explanation page. (A1146403) You may wish to look over there again, ... It seems a lot of people have left you notes !!!
(Unconformity was my original ACE, and we are quite good friends. A Christmas card I received this week has her sweet little girl on the front )

Hey mate, I have something for you to maybe ponder. I don't know how quiet your work-day is, and what on-line options you have ...
One leg of our travels wants us to get from Chelmsford (Essex) to Cardiff (Wales). We could probably go in to London, and catch a short flight. But we'd not see any scenery or your southern countryside. BritRail was getting ridiculously expensive, and would probably run too fast to see anything much. We'd like to see what kind of coach we can find. If it means in to London, and then out again ...

The web site of the national coach lines I hope this helps it will use motorways most of the time, but you will see a lot of country side. Good luck with this, any more information please ask.
Bob...

At first blush, there ARE a couple of options from Chelmsford. With brief stop-overs in London. And from London, there seem to be scads of times to choose. I think this will work quite nicely.
