That's alright then, I'd hate anyone to think that we have disordered drinking habits smiley - smiley

Á propos thisenthat, forgot to say how much I enjoyed the band you mentioned last week. Such a familiar genre and I immediately thought 'They've been listening to the Flying Burritos and is this country folk, country rock or country gospel?'. Their MySpace confirmed that my reaction wasn't totally off the wall ... and I started thinking about Area Code 615 (poor BtJ was tasked, when he was working in the States some ten years ago, with sourcing CDs to upgrade (missing) music from my collection ... and he managed to get a double CD of their first two albums) and also Gram Parsons.

Then I was considering Mr Harding. Ignoramus that I am, I've already said I've never read any Trollope. Bear with me here ... I recalled a song called The Warden. I saw The Byrds just after Gram Parsons joined them, topping the first half of a concert at the RAH where The Move were top of the bill (we had arena seats and recorded it on my Stellaphone cassette recorder, tape now missing doh). Roger-then-Jim McGuinn (at least, I think he was still Jim at that time) introduced Gram who introduced the song he was about to sing, a sadly sentimental C&W sorta waltz. It never appeared on any of the Byrds' albums, nor on that of the Flying Burritos that I knew of (wrong, as it turns out). Given that the chorus went 'Sing me back home before I die' and the words were pretty much otherwise indecipherable, I couldn't figure out why he gave it that name.

Anyhoo, google being a fab thing, may I offer you Gram's recorded version of The Warden:

I can hear the similarity but can't spot the connection to Mr Harding.

Just listening to Saturday Review, discussing the play tomorrow night on Radio 3:

What about George Knowall, another O'Nolan alias?

I did say 'Bear with me ...' ... Septimus Harding is The Warden:

No, I can't see it there either ... I'll get it some other way (I have missed so much music being either in workaholic or hibernate mode).

This has surprised me, although I read earlier today that Parsons did hang out with Keith during the particular London visit I mentioned (and later, too):

Good ol' Keith.

Meanwhile by a zig-zaggy path referring to the '80's, listening to 'the mind of love' and realising how dated it sounds despite the fact that I still love the music, I found this which I remember seeing on TOTP and thinking that well....somebody had made it through under the radar...I couldn't quite believe it. Very dated now in a way, but I love it:
