Nearly forgot ... where shall I leave this funnel? ttfn

Psiomniac Posted Apr 2, 2007
I'll have the funnel thanks, it will come in handy later when I get too drunk to find my mouth accurately.
I'm not decrying suspension of disbelief by the way, it is as useful in RL as it is here, just the letting it run riot aspect.
Catch you soon I hope.

Tree just got rattled again, could I borrow that funnel after all? Aw, please? Tell you what, why don't I have the funnel and you can watch the battle which may or may not unfold before your very eyes.
Am out and about tomorrow which, as of half an hour ago, suddenly became a bad idea ... no, s'ok, I don't need* depth charges, or depth charges, right now, remember I have just been reconstructed.
* other opinions welcomed

Bullying, where else? It seems to be lining up for a bout if they both get online at the same time ...
... is it my imagination, or does the three minute restriction not apply to hootoo?

Maybe it doesn't.
I think the fire has gone out of that thread but who knows maybe it will rekindle..
I hope Rosie T comes back and tries to argue a case....

Don't think so, I think she and irene are trying to knock it on the head ... there's all sorts of comments and threads now about bad vibes and spats in TB so a peace initiative seems to be underway
Listening to the Clancy link that hebe, I think, put on Prabs' Green Fields of France thread, I've never ever heard it before ... for some reason, I'm surprised that yet another classic of the folk repertoire has managed to elude me until now

Have you ever seen 'The Invasion Of The Body Snatchers?'
It's just that you have switched the topic there from conflict to folk music. I guess they got you too.

kk Posted Apr 2, 2007
Snork ... no, I've switched from ML conflict to melodies of conflict ... no, I'm still snorking, nice one! Answer, yes, but not for ages and anyway I got me own body back today, keep up, dere.
You're not obliged to listen but I found a better version btw, Eric Bogle's own version:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iyn1LexYZ5M
and this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d_2nIhQ-lD4
Realise this not be beguiling for you but I love listening to singer songwriter's perform their own material ... body snatchers be damned, it's multi-tasking innit

Sorry, that was a bit selfish of me so here's the Shoulder and single malt to go with:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ew0Hs7-hX6E
which is what I would have been watching if I hadn't been led astray by Eric Bogle ...
... g'nite, it will be alright

See, you should have been alerted by the suspicious looking extra pod by your bed.
Inventory check: depth charges
kk Posted Apr 3, 2007
Extra pod? Surely any pod was a pod too many?
Besides, it was dark, the lights were off and anyway you had all the depth charges ... not that I'd want to sleep with a box of depth charges that close to my head.
Anyway, there is no pod, if I rightly understand you

Psiomniac Posted Apr 3, 2007
There's no pod any more no. I hope being replaced by an alien hasn't also resulted in a 70's perm like Donald Sutherland had in the remake.
Interesting tunes you linked to. Belated thanks for the malt and shoulder btw.

Am off the to the hairdresser now ... no, not a perm of any type in the offing - my world shall remain pod and perm free.
I forgot to add that the link was for the music, not its' title, and I hope it worked well with the malt and the shoulder.
Isn't 'interesting' the polite way of saying 'awful'?
(Rats, is that the time ... I have to be 20 miles from here in an hour or so and I'm not dressed yet, and it's market day as well ... must fly, really ttfn)

Psiomniac Posted Apr 3, 2007
ttfn, no I didn't mean 'awful'. I'm an EST fan actually, I've seen them a couple of times, most memorably in Dublin.

kk Posted Apr 3, 2007
EST a safe rather than random treat although for choice (and a ten minute malt) I would have chosen a different track but it wasn't on YouTube - the DVD version of the next to last track on the previous album.
Have never seen EST live, more's the pity. Vicar Street, maybe? That's not a mile from where I was most memorably in Dublin last August-September with a return visit to Inns Quay scheduled for June-July but now there is no reason to go. How peculiarly apt that EST should fail to dodge the dodo, in a manner of speaking.

Psiomniac Posted Apr 3, 2007
Yes is was Vicar St. We got there and wondered why everybody was outside-turned out to be a power cut. A substation had blown. Eventually the engineers fixed it-when the owner came on to announce EST he said that if we all said a novena, the fix might hold.
Sorry to hear there is no reason to go in June-July. I am guessing this is related to the earlier-than-expected-closure you mentioned.
Dodge the Dodo???
EST is safe but good. For a bit more dangerous but good I would recommend Acoustic Ladyland.

When I was in Dublin in August, coz in Cork had to hire a van, driven by youngest son. I was offered a lift back to somewhere and I said 'look, if I can never go there, I want to see Vicar street'; no prob, said amiable lad and we went up a street at my directing only to end up in a dead-end at the back of Vicar Street. Other bro stayed schtum whilst the poor guy had to do a 17 point turn in order to go back the side street off the side street off the back street I'd deftly navigated them into!
Your thinking is along the right lines and it is a very mixed blessing not to need to go to the Inns after all; dig deep and recall a thread concerning Zurich.
Sad about the dodo, isn't it ... and Christy put a chat page on his site when Jim Aiken died a month ago.
Anyway, not a pod in sight and I shall give Accoustic Ladyland a whirl, any suggested starting point afore I prowl around eBay?

Check out a few tracks from 'Last Chance Disco' which is their first cd.
Still not getting the dodo reference I'm afraid. Not enough background knowledge you see.
Decided to put in the all important blank first line this time.

kk Posted Apr 3, 2007
It just looks tidier, doesn't it (the space between the heading and the text)?
No great import to the dodo reference per se, it was just a phrase. No matter.
I shall hie me to eBay with your suggestions re Last Chance Disco, ta!
