Hi guys smiley - smiley

i have been keeping an eye out for this entry, and it showed up on my page as pending just yesterday, apparently. i went to see the finished product and was a bit surprised.

it appears that my sub-ed has been given co-writing credit. i've compared the article to the original and have found no differences aside from changing sub-headers to headers and punctuation (which was mostly removing the period from abbreviated words like st. and people's initials). other than that the text remains exactly as i wrote it, and i was wondering how it was the sub came to have co-credit. as he has made no contribution to the article except for editing punctuation i didn't feel this was right.

one other change i noticed is that in the second paragraph under the heading 'more than just music' IN UNISON has been changed to In Unison. the name of the programme should be in all caps, as it is in every reference i've found in print and online.

if you could, please, correct the capitalization and explain (and correct) the move from sub-ed to co-author.

thanks!

broe

As a rough guess I would say that's because the sub-editor sub-edited it, then the in-house team did some more work, so gave themselves editorial credit, but because the sub-editor had already done some work on it, they had to go into the Researched by field, because you can't have multiple editors on an Entry. Perhaps we should be able to.

thanks smiley - smiley

is there a reason we can't capitalize IN UNISON? i wish i could tell you that it stood for something (forgot what the name for that is) but i've found no reference to it being a shortened version of something else. but it is always all-caps.

If the sub-editor wasn't aware of this, then they would probably have done what they thought to be a correction.

What does it mean, anyway?

to the best of my knowledge it's just the name of the program it refers to. i've been unable to find any more information on it than what i've included in the entry, but print references and the web both publish it in all-caps. i'm not a member of any church that is a participant in the program so i'm not familiar with the specifics. i included it as an example of the symphony's community involvement and felt it was relevant as it was one of the first programs of it's type.
