I haven't heard of that one yet. What's it all about?

The Church of the True Brownie has sadly been abandoned by it's Archbishop (me). It was a church that celebrated the Brownie (USian pastry) and all of it's forms. It used to be a quite active place here on the guide but it sort of lost it's focus a long time ago.

Check out A193754 for more info.

I see that you are involved with Guiding, which I guess is equivalent to the USian Girl Scouts.

I was a scout (boy) myself, and did not make it quite to my Eagle award. I was heavily involved from about 8 years till I was 18, and I am still a supporting of the scouting program. I hope that you find this a rewarding experiance, as did I.

Interesting about the Brownies.

Yeah, Guiding in the UK is the equivalent of the Girl Scouts in the US. Random thing here - I help lead a section within Guiding calleed Brownies. Not sure what the Scout equivalent is though. they're aged 7 to 10 years old, if that helps. Just thought that, as you're the Archbishop of the Church of the True Brownie, it's quite random thing.

Yes, we have Brownies here associated with Girl Scouts, so the term can be confused at times.

The Brownies I refer to are the pastry. It sort of sprug out of a tradition my family used to have with another family. We would go to their house on Sunday afternoons and have a barbeque, and there were always brownies around. So the oldest daughter of that family came up with the idea of the Church of the True Brownie. We were always arguing over what a proper brownie was. Some liked frosting on it, others liked nuts. It was quite fun, actually.

Yeah, we have the smiley - choc brownies here too. Some have smiley - choc chips on top, others have smiley - choc icing, others have nuts. Think it's like the basic thing, like the way you hget donuts with holes in the middle, with jam, with icing ans sprinkles etc.

Just so longf as it's chocolatey I'm happy.

I'll tell you a secret. I don't really like chocolate that much. I prefer savoury to sweet.

OK, two questions:

You don't like smiley - choc - how come?

Savory Brownies? Never heard of those. We generally just have the smiley - choc variety here.

I am just not that big a fan of chocolate. I guess that I like it OK, just not all that often.

As for sweet or savoury.. By that I mean that I prefer things that are savory rather than things that are sweet. I like spicy, salty, peppery things over sweet things. I don't think that you can make a savory brownie and still call it a brownie.

That's ok. Makes sense now. Was starting to think it was like the pancake where you can have one with practically anything.

I am sure that given enough time I could make a spicy chocolate brownie. No sugar, add some chilis to the mix... Hmm, that gives me an idea.

Did you know that prior to being exported to Europe chocolate was genreally used in a very spicy drink and had no sugar added?

I think I'd heard that it was first used as a drink rather tyhan in solid form, but never knew the details.

Chilli smiley - choc brownie? Sounds scary. I'm not good with very spicy stuff.
