I guess that I am going to get set up on a blind date with a girl who "Likes guys who like computers and video games". I am not all that sure how to take this...
I have never had a blind date before, and am not all that sure how to approach the situation. I guess I will see how it turns out after we see each other.
The cool part is that she works at a video store which means pre-release video viewing .

Gosh - and I was about to make a cynical comment along the lines of 'and does anyone know of any happy marriage that has resulted from a singles event or a blind date'

We will celebrate our 24th anniversay on July 8. We were married 13 months after we met. It ~can~ happen.

I met H at a singles club. Mind you I had been going for three years before I met him, but in the meantime I had gone on lots of group trips to the theatre, cinemas etc and had a good time.
You never know, Marv, she may turn out to be a great friend.
I like computer games, it isn't that unusual for women to play them.

I am a deep and hopeless cynic aren't I? I blame transference from the textbook on depression that I'm reading.
Come to think of it half my gay friends are seeing people they met on a certain dating website recently.

As for who set it up, it was the daughter of a friend of Bryce and I. As for the rest, well, I will have to wait till after I am moved before setting it up. Not too sure what to expect as I have never had a blind date before.

On our blind date we went out to dinner with mutual friends, the couple that introduced us to each other. Mr. M had gone to college with both of them and I worked with the female half of the couple. I'm sure it avoided any awkward silences as we had things in common we could all talk about.

I don't think I'd ever have such a thing as a awkward silence, but then I do talk far too much for my own good..

H says he admires my ability to keep the conversation going.
I think that is probably a kind way of telling me to shut up occasionally.

Well what goes on my CV as 'management skills' I think actualy is 'good at manipulating people'. I have realised that I have a 'strong personality' and can dominate a situation and steer it the way I want to go if I'm not careful. I do consciously try not to now, and make sure that quite people aren't being ignored.
None of this is relevent to blind dates is it? Sorry

My experience with blind dates has not been good but then, I met the egg-donor on a blind date.

I only had one blind date and it was with someone visiting his grandmother from out of state, so at the outset we both knew that it was unlikely we would ever see each other again. Which was liberating, I suppose. It didn't matter if we liked each other or not. We actually had a pretty good time.
Good luck, Marv.
