They're only rhetorical because she already knows the answers. What she REALLY wants to know is if you're brave enough to "fess up"!

That might help. My mother has always liked flowers. But I've got hayfever, so it'll give me an excuse to stay outa the house. Although I won't be able to access the Web.. Do'h, better not send them afer all....smiley - winkeye

But flowers are proper for funerals! If you try that reasoning on your mom, thar's where you'll be,(at least, then, they won't bother your hayfeversmiley - smiley)

I can't really say anything to my Mum because whatever the conversation starts out as, she always manages to turn it round to having a go at me because I haven't got a job and I'm going to fail my degree.

Ah my mum gives me the 20 questions all the time, even now that we live 3000kms apart. Ah well, her baby boy has grown up, got a place to live, got a job.

TechnicolourYawn, I know now that my Physics degree isn't really worth anything. That's why I became a computer programmer. :-\

I think you may have been looking in the wrong places. I know plenty of people with physics degrees who earn loads of money.

As for mothers, they say they're only trying to think of what's best for you but I say that it is important for someone to learn the lessons of life in their own time and their own way.

And I ask you all to remind me of that when my son reaches adolescence.
