Ahh right, is that whenever I come home, my mother alwaysgives me twenty questions on whatI've been up to, most of them being rhetorical???

They're only rhetorical because she already knows the answers. What she REALLY wants to know is if you're brave enough to "fess up"!

Exactly, and parents are remarkably good at getting that out of me... But i've started to develope defensive measures....

I believe that's what they cll "maturity"

Ahh, I see, I'll tell my mother that when she's interigating me: "I'm not telling you coz I'm more mature now..." That's got a nice ring to it, thanx.

I'll send flowers!

That might help. My mother has always liked flowers. But I've got hayfever, so it'll give me an excuse to stay outa the house. Although I won't be able to access the Web.. Do'h, better not send them afer all....

But flowers are proper for funerals! If you try that reasoning on your mom, thar's where you'll be,(at least, then, they won't bother your hayfever)

I can't really say anything to my Mum because whatever the conversation starts out as, she always manages to turn it round to having a go at me because I haven't got a job and I'm going to fail my degree.

Ahh, I see what your getting at now fairly strange. Sorry, I was a bit slow.... Mothers are very good at that Technicoloryawn, they must all go to a secret training camp to learn how...

Ah my mum gives me the 20 questions all the time, even now that we live 3000kms apart. Ah well, her baby boy has grown up, got a place to live, got a job.

TechnicolourYawn, I know now that my Physics degree isn't really worth anything. That's why I became a computer programmer. :-\

I think you may have been looking in the wrong places. I know plenty of people with physics degrees who earn loads of money.

As for mothers, they say they're only trying to think of what's best for you but I say that it is important for someone to learn the lessons of life in their own time and their own way.

And I ask you all to remind me of that when my son reaches adolescence.

Trust me, you'll not need reminded! You'll do enough of that on your own
