I hadn't thought of that. All this time I thought parties were places to go to get drunk, have a good time, and then wake up dead the next morning. I never realized that they could be places to ACT drunk, take pictures of various co-workers in compromising situations and then wake up the next morning wondering how much they'll pay to buy the pictures back from you.
Judging from many of the stories I heard from that party, I could've made a fortune.
Gosh, you're so forceful all of a sudden :)
Nick O`Teen Posted Aug 16, 1999
Well, the juciest story I heard was that someone got so drunk that night that, at one point, he went around knocking on the doors of various hotel patrons and exposing himself when they answered the door. Yipe...
Someone else was apparently milling about goosing women...and men.
I definitely have to go next time. I wonder if I can track down any pictures from that night...
Gosh, you're so forceful all of a sudden :)
Lochangel Posted Aug 18, 1999
You should go up to the one who kept on exposing himself and say "I hardly recognise you with your clothes on". Then find someone who cannot remember anything about the night and say "Well personally I though that tango did you did with the bosses wife wasn't raunchy or obscene at all. Don't worry about what other people are saying!"
Party Tricks...
Nick O`Teen Posted Aug 18, 1999
Well, I could do that, but it may have an adverse affect on my position in the company. Especially since I didn't go to that party.
But I'll make it to the next one. Hope they don't make it a black tie affair again, though. It would suck having to shell out over a hundred bucks for a tux rental just so I can go to a company party.
To tell, the truth, I kind of prefer going to the pub once a week to have a Guinness or two and shoot darts. I always look forward to that, because it's fun, I get to drink without getting drunk, I don't embarrass myself and I don't wake up hungover the next day. It's the little things I appreciate.

Self respect and the ability to wake up in the morning and not think "Oh god I didn't do that did I?" are crucial. I am off for the weekend . See you next week!
Off for the weekend?
Nick O`Teen Posted Aug 18, 1999
But it's only wednesday. What kind of work week do you people have in England?
Oh well, have lots of crazy weekend antics anyway.
Off for the weekend?
Lochangel Posted Aug 23, 1999
Yeah well we have pioneered the three day working week! You should emigrate!
Off for the weekend?
Nick O`Teen Posted Aug 23, 1999
Well, that certainly sounds inviting, but if I had 4 days off per week, I think I'd go insane trying to fill the time.
Off for the weekend?
Lochangel Posted Aug 24, 1999
No you wouldn't you would play games until your head exploded!
Off for the weekend?
Nick O`Teen Posted Aug 24, 1999
Yes, but I'd end up finishing the games sooner, then I'd have to buy more games more often, which will cost me more money. I'd have to get a substantial raise for working less days, which might be a tough pitch to my superiors.

hmmmm I hadn't thought of that. So what happened when you picked up all the Pokemon
Off for the weekend?
Nick O`Teen Posted Aug 25, 1999
Don't know yet. I haven't collected them all. I think I have about 127 of them now. I try trading with my nephew, but we trade one pokemon and then his attention span expires and off he goes to do something else. Ah, the MTV generation.

I know it is shocking isn't it. Have you triend tying him to the chair?
Off for the weekend?
Nick O`Teen Posted Aug 25, 1999
No, I haven't tried the trying-to-the-chair method of pokemon trading. Don't think his dad would approve. Tempting, though...
So, has Pokemon reached your shores yet?
Off for the weekend?
Nick O`Teen Posted Aug 26, 1999
Well, if they start selling the trading cards there, look out for first edition cards (they have a tiny little "1st edition" symbol on them). Those are worth quite a bit up here. Some cards are worth about CAD $80 already. Yipe!

oh bloody hell... there will be riots just like there were over beanie babies!!!!
Off for the weekend?
Nick O`Teen Posted Aug 26, 1999
It's more likely that the pokemon stuff will sell out too quickly for riots to be able to properly organize (or disorganize) themselves.
Won't be just cards, either. Pokemon merchandising seems to rival even that of Disney's A Bug's Life. Playing cards, koosh balls, plush toys (especially plush toys, oh they're just so CUTE!), video games, blah, blah, blah. I'm finding it difficult to believe that it hasn't swept the U.K. yet.
Pokemon popularity started waning here at one point only because there you couldn't buy cards any more (because they had all been sold, and manufacturing apparently had troubles keeping up with demand). The second series was released last month, though, so now it's starting all over again. Sheesh.

Yes there have been a few anarchist protests over here recently that have been heavily organised, which is precisely against the point of anarchy surely?
